Taylor tojhe Presidency of the United States, in different parts of the country, by political assem-_ blies of various characters, appears to us to be as ill-timed . as it is improper. The General iastill in the field, liable to its dangers, anti by no matins exempt from its reverses. He is there too, the representative of the whole people, and knows no divisions of party. It is most unkind therefore to draw him into the toils of party.management, and to endeavor to enclose within a narrow circle a man who belongs to the nation. It shows how selfish a movement it is on the part of the politi cians who seek to make capital out of events, which "belongs to all time," and in which they have had but little share. Let us remind these over-anxious political friend's of - Gen.
