the western country. It is gratifying to me to be
able to announce to my numerous friends at home

efforts which I have made to meet the many calls in
my line, it is with difficulty I can keep time with the ' ,

Letter from the Rev. R. Jackson.
Formerly Pastor of the. First Presbyterian Church - ,
New. York. . '
Curattrian, Feb. 1.5 1848.
Dr. Swayne—Dear Sir—Permit me to take the lib
erty of writing to you at this rime, to express appro•
henna, and recommend to the attention of heads of
families and to others your valuable medicine—youi
Compound Syrup of Wild Cherry. In my travels-of
late, I have seen in a great many instances, -- the won-
Ilerful effects of your medicine in relieving children
of very obstinate complaints, such as coughing,
wheezing, choking with the -phlegm, asthmatic at
tacks, &c. I should not have written this letter,
however, at present, although I have felt it my duty
to add my testimony to it for some time, had it not ;
been for a late instance where the medicine above
alluded to was instrumental in restoring to perfect
health an onliehild 0./ hose case was almost hopeless,
in a family of my acquaintance. I thank hearer, ,
said a doting mother, gray child is saved trona the
jaws of death.l
Beyond all doubt, Di. Swayne's Compound Syrop,
of Wild Cherry is the most valuable medicine - in this
or any other countra. I am certain I have witnessed
mere than one hundred cases where it has been at
tended with complete success. I have used it tnyselt
in an obstinate attack of the Bronchitis, in which , It
proved effectual in an eiceedingly short time, cod
sidering the severity of the case..l can recommend
it in the fullest confidence of its superior virtues. I
would advise - that no family should be without it; it
is very pleasant, and always beneficial; worth double
and often ten times its price. The public are assur
ed there is no . quackery. shout it.

it was, to remedy this radical defect that this new ap

the virposes al the most expensive Machines, and
in many other respects are more safe and certain in
accomplishing the desired effect. -
The Galvanic Rings- used in connection with the
Magnetic Fluid, arc confidently recommended in all
disorders which arisefront an enfeebled and unhealthy
state of the nervous or vital system;and tliese coni

which we are subject. They arise, withotit exception,
from one. siMple cause—a derangement of ihe Nerv

, remedies , having so often failed, a new-agent was
greatly needed,. which it is confidently believed, hai
beeii found in the proper and judicious: application
The Galranic .Rings ham - troth used with entire

Their extraordinary effects Upon the system must be
witnessed to be believed, and as a certain preventive
for the preceding complaints they are tquallyreconi

made °fall sizes, and of variant ornamental patterns,
and can be worn by the most delicate female without
the slightest inconvenience. In fict, the sensation
is rather agreeable than otherwise.

In some cases of .a yell, :severe character, and of

is used in connection with the Galvanic flings and
all their modifications. This composition has been
pronounced by the-French Chemists to ue one or the
most extraordinary discoveries ofmodern science. It
is believed to possess the remarkable power Of ren

seat of disease, thus giving rapid and permanent re

producer the same effect, or to impart a similar pro

ments to his friends for .their patronage and kindness
o him. His feelings are the warmer from observing
he "beginning and the ending”.;—thrown almost in

parations equally load in their pretensions, and
much more • industriously presented to the public;
while This preparation noiselesslY advances, even to

In its natural hilitory, if yoit plena,' the' Wilson-
Pill differs from most other preparation!, hi, aiktieing
originally made for sale, or with a Vitt to pecuniary

drugs than ho casts About for some, ckeap prepara
tion. or must tat up; , as the phrase ii , somethingz—
anything that will sell. Often ho attempts it under
an assumed or fictitious nude: as though conscious
his own were insufficient to sell it. The difference
then between the Wilson Pill and the preparations a
have just indicated, Would appear to be this: The
conscidusness, of tho .value of my pill originated
the idea of plating them an sale for money, add it I
price. • The consciousness of the •value of Money
originates in most instances tke many preparations
I have alluded to; and the price moat likely 'to take'
is always first carefully considered, and the pill or
ther p rep arfiti on made and grad tinted td suit it. Th e
one is a otscoveav, add eomes froMthe great Arcane
of Universal Nature; the other a trick or invention,
and comes from a not very popular quity of
VIDVAL Nature. Mader! the difference - heris is
great.. In ono ingance the va/ue attached to , the mit

it is not probable that , some of the many prepara

Whatever may be the rationale, I must repeat it,
that ham most profoundly thankful to my friends for

This is to certify that we have•used the American .
Oil fur theQvhooping cough, among our. children, by
giving theta-from 20 drops to a small.tea spoonful-at:
night, which always enabled them to rest well through
the night. I also applied it to one of the children
that got her arm burnt by turning over a tea cup of-
hot.coffee on it, the child seamed crying by.the.timer
the,arm was dressed and bound up, and has never'
complained of it since. I also was afflicted with st:
pain in my side ana breast, and have been so. for 16 -
years- I commenced using the Oil- by taking a tea.-
spoonful twice a day. and in 3 or four days using of
the, oil I ben very much relieved, and no:really
believe that it is the best family medicine that I have
ever seen. I applied it to one of Mr:neighbor , ' for ',-
