Such a prepa , ration is Dr. Swamies Compound Syrup of Wild Cherry, prepared by himself at his labartory in Phil adelphia. Dr. Witter, of Philadelphia, has not nor never has had any thing to do with any preparation of Wild Cherry, but there was one got up in Philadel phitt and the name of Wirier attached, the right of which was sold oot'to sonic merchants in the West. I overdone myself from exertion which :I was not able to perform, which prostrated my system to a great extent. I com menced the use of your Compound Syrup of Wild Cherry, together With your Extract of Sarsaparilla and Tar Pills, which gave me almost immediate re lief, and I am glad to give my testimony to all who may be afflicted in a similar way. I am now able to resume my daily labor. It would do well to see that the signature of Dr. IL SWAYRE is on each bottle of Wild Cherry. Dr. SI - dyne—Dear Sir—Permit me to take the lib erty of writing to you at this time, to express appro. bation, and recommend to the attention of headlief families and to others your valuable medicine—your Compound Syrup ofWild Cherry. In my travels of late, I have seen in a'great many instances, the won ' deify! effects of your medicine in relieving children of very obstinate complaints, such as coughing, wheezing, choking with the phlegm, asthmatic at tacks, &c. I should not have written this letter, however, at present,.although I have felt it my duty to add my testimony. to it for some time, had it not been for a late instance where tffh - medicine above alluded to was instrumental in restoring to perfect i health an only child, whose case was almost hopeless, I in a family of my acquaintance. " I thank heaven,' said a doting mother, 'my ehild is saved front the jaws of death.' Beyond all doubt, Dr. swayfie's Compound Syrup of Wild Cherry is the most valuable medicine in this, nr any other country. I atn ceitain I have witnessed more than one hundred cases Where it has been at tended with complete•ruccess. I have used it myself in an obstinate attack of the Brenchitis, in which it proved effectual in an exceedingly short time, con-I Mitering the severity of the case. I can recommend it in the fullest confidence of its superior virtues. I would advise that no family should he without it; it is very pleasant, and always beneficial; worth double and Mien ten times its price. The public are assur ed there is no-quackery about it. ! It. His feelings are the warmer from observing ho "beginning and the ending"—thrown almost in juxtaposition—of so many nostrums and kindred pre parations equally loud in their pretensions, and much more industriously pregerited to the public; while his preparation noiseleislyi advances, even to remote places, soothing and comferting the afflicted, and permanently gritting itself ripen the affections or new friends, thus continually widening the circle of its usefulness. Although well satisfied that his medicine has, as it were; a principle of perpetuity in it, yet lie is obliged to his friends fur the most sub- stantial evidence of the fact. In its natural history, .if you please, the Wilson Pill differs from most other preparations in not being originally made for sale, or with a view to pecuniary profit; while as every body knows, the greatest tyro (as a• general thing) no sooner begins to dabble in dregs than lie casts about for some cheap prepara tion, or must 'get up,' as the phrase is, something— anything that will sell. Often he attempts it under an aommed or fictitious name. as though conscious his own were insufficient to soil it. The difference then between the Wilson Pill and the Preparations a have just indicated, would appear to be this: The consciousness of the value of my pill originated the idea of putting them on sale forjnoney, and at I price. The consciousness of the value of money originates in must instances the many preparations I have alluded to; and the price most likely 'to take' ie always first carefully considered, and the pill or otherpreparatton made and gratiriafed to suit it. The one is a niscoveny, and comes from the great Arcans of Universal Nature; the other a trick or invention, and Comes from a not very popular quality of Ism vtDuAt. Nature. 'leader! the difference here is great. :In one instance the value attached to the PILL is the starting point; in the other, the MONEY. But it is ult. probable that sonic of - tho many prepara tionshaving even such paternity were accidentally good, but that possibly by this process of "getting up" us they call it, by puffing and blowing, as we clean wheat, they have been "got up" too high be fore their specific gravity had been carefully ascer tained, and have blown off never to be heard of, with other chaff—some lighter, some heavier. Whatever may be the rationale,. I must repeat it, that I inn most profoundly thankful to my frieudis for their discritbination in notconsigriing my discovery to that compenduous category of "inventions that did not answer“—of "tricks that won't win..” Pittsburgh, Po. CHRISTIE'S GALVANIC RINGS AND MAG. T - HIS remarkable invention, which has received the universal approbation of the medical profes sion of Great Britain, comprises an entirely new ap plication of Galvanism, as a remedial agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic Batteries, 'Electric and Magnetic Machin", &e., are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious power of Galvanism applied without any of the objecdons which are inseparable from the general mode now in nee.. The strong dos es, and irregular intervals, in which Galvanism isap plied by the Machines, has been ?renounced ; after a fair and impartial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy this radical defect that this new ap plication was projected, which, after unceasing toil, and perseverance, has been brought to its present state of perfection. The Gattanie Rings answer all the purposes ot the most expensive Machines, and 1 in many other respects are' more safe and certain in accomplishing the desired effect. The Galvanic Rings used in connection with the Magnetic Fluid, are confidently recommended in all disorders which drisefrom an enfeebled and unhealthy state of the nervous or vital system, and ,these corn plainta are among the most painful and universal to which we are subject. They arise, without exception, from one simple cause—a derangement of the Nerv ous System—and it was in these cases that other 'remeilies' having so often failed, anew agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, has been found in the proper and judicious application of Galvanism. The Galvanic Rings have been used with entire i success in all cases ofRIieUnATISSt, acute or chronic, applying to the - head, face or limbs, Gout, Tic-Dolo reur, Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous Sick Headache, Indigestion, Paralysis, Palsy, Epilepsy, Fits Cramp, Palpitations of the Heart, Apoplexy, Stiffness of Joints, Spinal Complaints, Lumbago, Neuralgia, Nervous Tremors, Dizziness of the Head, pain in the Chest and Side, General Debility,Deficien cy, of Nervous and Physical Energy, and all NERV OUS DISORDERS. In cases ofconfirmed Dyspepsia, which is simply a nervous derangemeneof the diges tive organs, they have been found equally successful. Their extraordinary effects upon the system mast be witnessed to be believed; and as a certain preventive Ibr the preceding complaints they are equally recom mended. The Rings are of different prices, being made ofall•sixes, and of variotwornamental patterns, and can be worn by the most deli Cate female without the slightest inconvenience. In fact, the sensation is rather agreeable than otherwise. The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bands, Garters, Necklaces &c. ln some cases of a very severe Character, and of long standing, the power as applied by the Galvanic Rings is not sufficientto arrest the progress of disease and ultimakely restore health. The improved modi fication in the Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, &c., entire ly remedies this objection; any degree of power that is required can readily be obtained, and no complaint which the mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail to be permanently relieved. These articles are adapted to the waists, arms, wrists, limbs, andel!, or any part of the body, with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces are used with ereater bene fit in cases of Bronchitis or riffectient of the throat generally; also iu cases of Nervous Deafness; and with almost unifi,rm success as a preventive for Apo plexy, Epileptic Fits, and similar complaints. Christle , s Slagnetic Fluid - • is used in connection with the Galvanic Rings and all their modifications. This composition has been pronounced by the French Chemists to De one tittle moat extraordinary discoveries of modern science. It , is believed to possess the remarkable power of ren , arcing the nerves sensitive to galvanic action by this meanscausing a concentration of the influence, at the' 1 1 seat of disease, thus giving rapid and permanent re lief. No other composition in chemistry is knoWn to I produce the same effect, or to impart a similar pro , perty to the nervous system, by means ofan outward local application. The Magnetic Fluid contains noth ing capable of the slightest injury; its application is agreeable, and it is as harmless in its action as it is beneficial in its results. Full explanations and direc tions accompany it. The combined inventions are in every way perfectly harmless; they are gold at prices within the reach of all and the discoVerer only re quests a fair trial as a test of their surprising efficacy and permanent benefit. Christie's Gnlennie Strengthening Pins. These articles form another valuable application ofthe mysterious influence 'ofgalvanism. They are an important adjunct to the genuine Galvanic Rings and their modifications, acting upon the same princi ple, but having the advantage of more local applica tion. They are confidently recommended as a valu able addition in the speedy cure olltheumatism, acute or chronic; in all nervous complaints, and as a posi tire remedy in cases of Pain and Weakness in Me Cheat or Bock, Pain in Me Side, in Amitotic Affections, and in Weakness cr Oppression of the Pulmonary Or. gans. In Spinal Complaints their effects are of the most decided character, and they have often been used with conaplete success. They are also of the greatest advantage in Pains and Weakness of the Breast, and are highly recommended for many of those complaints to , phich females are especially liable. As an effectual means for strengthening the system when debilitated with disease or other causes; as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a Preventive ol Colds, and in all affections of the Chest, generally, the Galvanic Strengthening Plaster will be found of great and permanent advantage. In a few words; it embraces all the virtues of tha best tonic preparation, with the important addition of the galvanic . influence, which is neitheY impaired. nor exhausted, while the action continues. These articles will be timid entire ly free from those objections which are a constant source of complaint with the ordinary plasters in - Common use. Jayne NoB South Third st., Philadelphia Dear Sir I have this day had an interview with the gentleman of whom 1 made mention to you as hav ing taken , your Expectorant with sucH decided effe:t. Reis a respectable fanner, living a few miles from here. I was so much interested in a detailed account he gave me of his cough and cure, that I embrace the first leisure moment to communicate it to you, and.if the cure is as radical as it appears to be, it is the most remarkable one I have ever known. For 32 years (after having the measles) he has been nil 'bring with a cough of the most distressing d,get- i y kp ho get ting worse as he advanced in years; he t s w SA, Frequent terms of coughing and difficult f breath inp,,, lasting from an hour to an hour and a half, would come upon him with such severity as to exhaust him'' with strangling until hiaeyes became bioodshot. Ile had despaired of being cured having tried physicians and a thousand things without relief. Fornine weeks immediately previous to taking the Expectorant, he had not been able to go to-his barn although there was the most argent necessity for him to do so. During the nine weeks he was under the care of an e nin en t physician, and he finally just got able to go out, and came to my store, and hearing'his cough, I recommended to him your Expectorant. I-4 first_ said he hat tried so many things that he had no eon& -dence in any thing; hot I induced him to take 'a bottle by telling him of persons of my acquaintance who had been decidedly benefitted by it. This was on Tuesday; that night he took of it, and says thur it was the first comfortable night's sleep he had enjoyed for years. Onthe Thursday following he went to work; and has continued to make a full hand on hit fain ever since [now nearly two months.] - He told trie to-day that for the last week he had cut and split a hundred rails, or made a hundred panels of fence per day; has been in the water to wash his sheep, and otherwise exposed, without the least symptom of a return of his cough, it having entirely disappeared and, strangest of all, one-third _of a bottle has pro duced the effect. Ile seems so thankful and.over joyed that he "wants to talk all. day-about it,n,end says that if he could not procure, another bottle,he would refuse one hundred dollars for the remainder of the bottle he had left. _ Your Carminative Balsam I have need or recom, mened to others for the last ten years, with themost salutary -effect.
