regularly crossing the Atlantic, by steam—was

steamer ever built in this country, having four

tans, though she is but 1700 tuns Castom House
ineastuernent. She is 210 feet long. She carries
two engines of 1000 horse power each. Captain
Hewet, formerly of the packet ship Utica, has been
selected to command her; and she will require a
crew Mahout 100 men.

of the National Intelligencer says that among other
novelties of the day may be mentioned an impro
ved printing press, which was recently tested In
London, and threw off the astonishing number of
15,700 impressions in an hour. The inventor is
Mr. Little, a gentleman connected with the office
of the Illustrated News. Ire is said to have re
ceived £lO.OOO for his invention. There is also
an improved press erecting by the celebrated engi
neers, Mesirs. Dryden, in the Times office, which
is warranted to execute 12,000 impressions in the
hour, or three in every second.

rumors from this city that the Mexican Congress
has passed a resolution declaring their willingness
to receive a minister of the United States to treat
