rim/ of the U. S. ship Relief.
The Pensacola Gazette has the following notice
of the arrival of the United States store ship Relief,
from the Gulf. There is some account of a con
flirt between the Mexicans and two boats' crews
tinder command of Lieut. !Semmes, but unfortu

been accidentally omitted: .
-The U. S. store ship Relief, Oscar Ulu., Lieut.
Com'g. days from Anton Lizardo, arrived here
yesterday. We are indebted to an Aker of the
ship for the following item of news: The Reliet
experienced very heavy weather on her passage
hither—hove to !iti hours in a most violent North
er. On the morning the Relief sailed, a boat w • ns
discovered discharging cargo at Anton Lizaido.—
Commodore Conner immediately despatched two
boats, under command of Lieut. R. 'Semmes, (late
cominander of the Somers,) who did it in the
most handsome manner, the Mexicans; keeping
up a heavy lire all the while. COM. Conner had
the Squadron distributed along the coast, block
ading the ports with unabated rigor and his usual
vigilance.
The U. S. schooner On•ka-hy-e, Lieut. Berryman,
Com . g, arrived at this port on ,Thursday last from
Key West.

EXPLANATION
A correspondent from the First Regiment, whose
letter we publish today, complains bitterly of
Capts Herron and Hay. for the manner in which
the money contributed. by our citizens for the use
of the noncommissioned officers and privates of
the two Pittsburgh Companies, has been disposed
of. “11. 13." does great injustice to the Captains
when he surmises that the money has been'squan•
tered by them for luxuries. • They deposited the
whole amount with Major Larimer, before they
left this city, for the benefit of the families of the
volunteers that may be need. This was certain:
ly a just and right dispo . sition of the money, and
only needs to he known to be appreciated by the
members of the companies of Capts. Herron and
Hay.'
