NTEVER DESPAIR! YOU CAN BE CURED.
Lasintn - rsvru.t, N. J., June 10, 1846.
Dr. IA Jayne No S South Third st., Philadelphia—
Dear Sir: I have this day had an interview with the
gentleman of whom I made mention to you as hav
ing taken your Expectorant with such decided effect.
He is a respectable farmer, living a few miles froth
here. "was so much interested Ma detailed account
he gave me of his cough and cure, that I embrace
the first leisure moment to communicate it to you,
and if the cure is as radical as it appears to be, it is
the most remarkable one I have over known. For
yeari (after having the measles) he has been sul
fering with a cough of the most distressing kind, get
ting worse as he advanced in years; he is now 83.
Frequent terms of coughing and difficulty of breath
ing, lastingfrom an hour to an hour and a half, would
.Come upon him with such severity as to exhaust him
with strangling until his eyes became Woods/mt. Ile
had despaired of being cured having tried physicians
and a thousand things without relief. For nine weeks
immediately previous to taking the Expectorant, he!
bad not been able to go to his barn although there
was the most urgent necessity for him to do so.
During the nine weeks be was under the care of
to euinent physician, and he finally just got able to
go out, and canto to my store, and hearing his cough,
raeoparimaded In him
! lour Expectorant. He first
said he had tried so many things that he had no confi
dence in any thing; ttut I induced him to take a bottle
by telling him of persons of my acquaint rice who ,
I had been decidedly bentfitted by it. This was on
Tuesday; that night he took of it, and says that it was
the first comfortable night's sleep he had enjoyed for
years. ()elite Thursday following he went to work,
anti hag continued to make a full hand on hie farm
ever' since (now nearly two months.] He told me!
txt,4l.ay that for the last week he had cut and split s
hundred rails, or made a hundred panels of fence per
day; has been in the water to wash his sheep, and I
otherwise' exposed, without the least symptom of a
return of his cough, it having entirely disappeared
and, strangest of all, one-third of a bottle has pro-
duced the effect. He seems so thankful and over
joyed that he '‘wants to talk all day abont it," and
says that if he could not procure another bottle, he
would refuse one hundred dollars for the remainder;
of the bottle he had left.
Your Carminative Balsam I have usad or recom- I
maned to others for the last ten years, with the most
salutary effect. Respectfully yours,
JOHN H. ATMERSON.

T WOULD speak an honest and conscientious word
of advice tb those of you who are not too s wise to
reason, and who can appreciate and distinguish be
tween the cruel and dishonest puffing of the day, (in
reference to pulmonary diseases,) and the following
straight-forward statement, by one who would not
offer a misrepresentation to you, where life and
death Ore so dearly concerned as in any of the dis
eases or ailments which lead to Consumption.
Tear. assure you that the remedy here offered, has
given a heavenly relief, and often effected a perma •

is pleasant, indeed, beautiful to taste; and for those
who are weak, languid, and emaciated, it will form
an agreeable article of food, as it is in the form of a
beautiful, flavored balsamic je:ly. It can, there
fore, in truth and honor, be offered to all those afflic

Coughs and Colds,: spitting of Blood, Bleeding of the

In further esecution rif the said act, I have caused
the Commissioner of tholietteral Land Office to pub

mineral regions in which these lauds lie, and of the
lands now offered for sale, - Which he has prepared
from official documents and other means of infor

Given uncles my band at the City of Washington,
this eighth* day of September . , ,Anno Domini, one
thousand eight hnudred and forty-six—
. liv the President: JAMES K. POLE.
JADIES 11. PMEA,
Acting Canindisiancr if the General Land (Vice.
The lauds in the DIXON district, embraced in the
above proclamation of the President of. the , United
States, were explored by:Mr. Owen, the geologist of
the State of Indiana, under the instructions from the
Treasury Department, and in compliance with a
solution of the House of Representatives, passed 6th
February, 1839. The able report of this gentleman,
published -as ducument , No. 239,110u5e of Represen
tatives, first session of 26th CongreSs, shows that
these lands include all the productive mines, and the
entire region in which, from observations during his
surrey, there is reason to believe that valuable ft:illS
of ore may readily lie found.. Further, that in 1839,
the lead mines of Illinois,. lowa, and Wisconsin,
though only partially worked„produeed upwards of
thirty millions potindi of lead—those of Illinois
yielding their full, proportion—and that the whole
district, if properly mined, would yield one hundred•
and fitly millions pounds per annum.
. Those lauds Doing situated on and near the Mis
sissippi and Fever rivers, the cost OT transporting the
products of them to St. Louis is only about fifteen
cents per hundred pounds.. The soil is of excellent
quality, and yields abundantly- all the products of
that latitude.
The lands in the SHAWNEETOWN district have
not boon explored as fully as those in Dixon. Re
cent dischveries have been made, however, of rich
veins of the sulphuret of lead and zinc contiguous
to and on both sides of these lands, indicating the
existence of similar depositor within them. The fa
cilities for, manufacturing White and red lead arc
representetl as being ample; and as the lands are
sitinited.A(rithin abqut seven miles of the Ohio river,
the metal, in auy form, can be transported to all the
principal markets at a trilling cost.

Acting. Commissioner of the General Land Office.
