BY LAST NIGHT'S ;MIL
Tea Nisairrs.—The Baltimore Suu of Tuesday
morning, speaking of the effect produced in our
markets on the reception of the news - by the last
steamer says:—ln the Baltimore market, prices of
flour and grain advanced, but buyers' Stood off for
infcinnation from New Yoik, Thetisking rates
f,e_r flour was $ 8; but the general imPression seem
ed' to btc that prices must recede from 12} to 25
cents from that point. To-day the market will
probably be more settled, as the private correspon
dence of dealers has now' come to hand Grain
has also advanced, and there - was a sale yesterday
morning of prime Pennsylianla red wheat at 120
cents per bushel, which is an advance of about 8
cents on Saturdays rates. White wheat Ls held at
130 to 135 cents, suitable for family flour. Hold
ers of corn are also asking higher prices--some
five of six cents per bushel on the rates of Satur
day--but there is very little in market, and we be
lieve no sales have been made.
At Boston,, on Saturday.. dour advanced nomi.
flatly 25 to 37} cents; in consequence of the steam
ship's news. No sales, however, had been heard
of np to 2 o'clock, P.M. Corn was also held at
an advance of 6 cents a bushel.
At New York yesterday, the telegraphic despatch
of the Patriot announces that the news had excited
the market very much. The price of flour was un-
Settled, and there was not much doing--$6/ was
about the figure for Genesee. Sales of 12,000 bush
els inferior corn were made at SO cents; wheat is
held higher, but the price was not fixed.
In the telegraphic despatch in yesterday's Sun
an error occurred in the quotation of the average
price of flour, an advance from Ms. to 565. 10d.
per barrel, in the course of ten days. The quota
tion should have been as to the price of wheat per
quarter, instead of-flour, but it was so transmitted
from the New York telegraphic office, and our line
being out of order no corrections could be made.
From the Baltimore Slin,
PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 9, 8 o'clock, P. M
The flour market has been unsettled all-day
Prices have advanced to $6, but buyers have refu
sed to operate at that price, and there has conse
quently been nu sales. Offers of $5 -15 have been
freely made, but firmly refused. About 1000 bar
rels sold on Saturday evening at latter. Grain al
so advanced in proportion to the advance in flour,
but I have heard of no sales.
