This is to certify that we have used the Americin
Oil for the whooping cough, among our children, by
giving them from 20 drops to a small tea spoonful at
night, which always enabled them to rest well through
the night. I also applied it to ono of the children
that got her arm burnt by turning over a tea-cup of
hot coffee on it, the child seased crying by the time
the arm was dressed and bound , up, and has never
complained of it since: I also' was afflicted with a
pain in my side anti breast, and have been so for 16
years. 1 commenced using the Oil by taking a tea
spoonful twice a day and in 3 or four days using of
the oil I have ben very much relieved, and do-really
believe that it is the best filmily medicine that I have
ever seen. I applied it to one of my neighbor's 'for

ANOTHER ASTONISHING CURES
Wisrmt , s BALSAM or wt4D Clitnnir, always trium
phant! cure follows cure in its onwaid victorious
career! •
DArrotr, Feb, Ilth, 1 545.
J. W. Whitmore.—Dear Sir: As youire the ieg
ular authorized agent in Dayton, for the - sale of "Dr:
Wistaes Balsam of Wild Chirry,s , I take this meth
od of making a statement of facts to your (which I
hope may be published to the world) in Oferenee to
an almost miraculous, cure, wrought in !my CaSe• by
means of the above invalualde Balsam. - •
Language fails to describe the salutary effects it pro.
duced, and the great benefit I derived from its use.
The citizens of Dayton anti vicinity, well recol
lect that on the Sth of August last, I received seri
ous injury from the explosion of a cannon. A por
tion of its contents entered my right side and breast;
and in all probability, some fragments or splinters of
the ram-rod passed through the plum.," and pierced
the Lungs.
After the lapse - of about six weeks, I was attacked
with a distressing cough and a violent pain in my
right side. Some teu days after this when in a par
arysm of coughing, suddenly and ULCER broke, and
a large quantity of very offensive matter, mixed
with blood, was discharged; most of which found
passage throtigh the opening of the wound. Froin
this epcning there frequently passed a quantity of,
air, supposed to issue from the lungs. During all
this time my sufferings were almost intolerahle.
My physicians, meowhire paid the strictest atten
tion to me, and did all in their poser for my recov
ery. But with all their skill they could not reach
thesent of distress, after the Ltuics had become affect
ed. I was visited during this time by at least twenty
Physicians..
It Was Mow rcduced to a certainty, that inflamat ion
of the how was rapidly taking place; and that this
would terminate mV life in a very short time, was in
the highest degree prolphie.
At thi j critical stage, a messenger was despatchec
to Cincinnati, and a celebrated Physician ,of that
place wan consulted. When he was made a-dip:mint
ed with my situation, he remarked that nothing could
be done by medical aid, lithe constitution itself was
not sufficient to throw off the disease. •
My friends now despaired of my recovery, and I
had no earthly ground of hope to survive many days.
Fortunately at this juncture, I saw one of Dr. Wis
tar's Parhphlets, entitled "Family Medical Guide,"
or "Treatise on Consumption of the Lungs." As I
bad oftel heard of dying men "catching at straws,"
.1 felt this doing so myself. By the consent of my
Physicians; I sent to you for a bottle of the medicine
described viz: " Wislar , s Balsam of Wild Cherry,"
which relieved nib almost immediately. After I
had uscdi some five or six bottles I sofar recovered as
to be up 4zul about. my cough ceased, and my lungs
were re s tored to a healthy . state—ail from the heal
ing ancaalmy influence and-powerful medicinal vir
tues,/ Wistar , s Balsam.
Were it not from the external injury I received in
my shoulder and arm by the explosion, I feel confi
dent that I might have . been working at my trade
(which it Idacksmithilig,) but this has prevnted.
.fly exposure, 1 have since taken sereral severe
colds, and my only remedy has been "the balsam."
And 1 now most cordially recommend the genuine
Wistar , s 811/4111/4 to all who are afflicted With Colds,
Coughs,or Lung Complaints. I consider it an inval

llson's Pills
null: WILSON PILLS, as a remedy peculiarly
adapted for headaches and dyspeptic affections,
are pretty generally known and esteemed in this
community and the proprietor, so often as he has
occasion to write or speak of them, can scarcely re
frain from an expression of his grateful acknowledg
ments to his friends fur their patronage and kindness
to him. His feelings are the wanner front observing
the "beginning and the ending"—thrown almost in
juxtaposition—alto many 110M111108 and kindred pre
parations equally loud in their pretensions, and
much more industriously presented to the public;
while his preparation noiselessly advances, even to
remote places, soothing and comforting the afflicted,
and permanently grafting itself upon the affections
of new friends, thus continually widening the circle
of its tirefulness. Although well satisfied that his
medicine as it were, a principle of perpetuity in
it, vet he is obliged to his friends for the must stffr
sto;dia/ evidence of the filet.
In its natural history, if you please, the Wilson
Pill differs from most other preparations in not being
originally made for sale,..or with a view to pecuniary
profit; while: as every body knows, the'greatest tyro
;as a general 'thing) no sooner begins to dabble in
drugs than he casts about for some cheap prepara
tion, optima let up,' as the phrase is;something,—
anythintr that will sell. Olen ho attf nipts it under
an assumed or fictitious name. as though conscious
his own were insufficient to sell it. Arlie difference
then between the Wilson Pill and the preparations a
have just indicated, would appear to be this: The
consciousness of the value of my pill originated
the idea of putting them on sale for money, and at I
price. The consciousness of the value or money
originates in most instances the many preparations
I have alluded to; and the price. mos t likely 'to take'
is always first carefully considered, and the pill or
otherpreparation made and graduated to suit it. The
one is a DISCOVERY, and cornea from the great A rcana
or Universal Nature; the other a trick or invention,
and comes from a not very popular quality of INDI
VIDUAL Nature. Reader! the difference here is
great In one instance the value attached to the PILL
is the starting point; in the other, the MONEY. BIM
it is not probable that some of the many prepara
tions having even such paternity were accidentally
good, but thal possibly by this process of "getting
up" as they call it, by puffing and blowing,.as we
clean wheat, they have..bcen "got up" too high be
fore their specific gravity had been carefully ascer
tained, and have blown off never to be heard of,
with other chaff—some lighter, some heavier.
.Whatever may be the rationale I must repeat it,
that I am most profoundly thanklia to my friends for
their discrimination in not consigning my discovery to
that compenduous category of "inventions that did
not answer"—of "tricks thatwon't
