ano:her Rumor.—The Mobile Advertiser, in no..
tieing the rumored attack on Gen. Taylor by the'
Mexicans, from the New Oilcans Delta, says:
We have also had a rumor here, brought from;
Matamoras in the McKim by a passenger direct
to this city; that the Mexicans or that city had 3C•I
COLIIITS that their coutttn rnen had been reiwurced
—bad attacked the American army and obtained
e;re tt advonta4es. Both rumors are probably de
rived from the same source. the prevalence of 3 re.
port among the Mexicans at Matamoros. There i
is not sufficient ground for g,vingcred it to either i
version. 'We may, however. calculate on any;
am aunt of faithlessness among the officers and
men of that treacherous race.
These rumors give painful interest to the daily
expectation of news from the army. We look for
the Galveston shortly with anoiher week's later ad.
vices.
atrir , ia/of Rrcruits.--One hundred recruits forthe
first regiment of dragoons, with their horses, arri
ved at New Orleans on the 111,11 inst., on the'slea
mer Julia from St. Louis, and will proceed to the
Rio Grande immediately. They are under the
command of Col. Kearney, a relative of Gen. Kear
ney, 'and men and horses are not to be surpassed
by any in the service. In the selection of the hor
ses taste and judgment have been exercised. They
are all of one color, an iron grey, and appear to
have both speed and bottom.
The papers from this country are filled with re
parts of meetings held to provide means for the
employment of the people.
At Younghall serious outbreaks have taken
place. Lord Stuart De Decies, lieutenant of the
country of Waterford, had a narrow escape nib, the
2lth ultimo. His lordship presided at-the adjourn

menaces, threats, and opprobious epithets, which
dently betokened their extreme willingness to
violence to his lordship. A party , of hussars
were obliged to escort him to Dromore. On the
c airy returning, the mob attacked thorn. A ring-
I leader, named Power, was %cry severely 4 . .ibred, 1
but was carried off by the populace, when their as-1
saults were redoubled. Several of the horsernen I
were severely hurt, and the force being small, w ere!
obliged to retreat for their lives. The Irish papers!
now before us, also contain accounts of outbreaks
at Fermoy And Cloyne. At Castle-Martyr a num
ber of men, women, and children, entered that vil
lage, and, marching through it, to the terror of the;
inhabitants, commenced an attack oh the few ba
kers' and hucksters' shops, and seized on all they
could lay their hands on. From the village they
proceeded to the residence of the Earl of Shannon,
contiguous to Castle-Martyr. The mob threatened
to pull down the castle over the bead of his lord
ship, and that they would return the following day
in increased numbers to carry their threat into ex- I
ecutlon.
The government have decided upon directing the
. board of works not to limit the operation of the
Ilabor-rate act ^.O the making of roads, but to ex
tend it to all works which may prove of general
utility, and to the general improvement of the dis
trict. Payments are to be made Weekly to the
pour. •
On the 28th ultimo a serious food riot took place
at Dunearven. The mob mustered elev en or twelve
thousand strong, and- were about to attack the mer
chante, Stores, but a troop of dragoons, which ar
rived iif time, had to charge them repeatedly. The
people, however, continued to throw stones, and
' the_state of affairs began to look very serious.—
The dragoons were then ordered to lire;- and it is
said that about twenty shots were discharged.—
Two men were seriously wounded, but we are glad
to find they are still living.
The Young Ireland party held a meetine ' in-Dub
lin on Sunday last, but were not '
successful, as the
moral-force men carried all their own way, and
succeeded in carrying a vote of confidence in the
learned member for Cork. Mr. O'Connell has not
returned from Derrynane. The last two weeks
have brought from him epistles to Mr. Ray, which
have been read at the meetings of the Royal Asso
ciation on the 21st and 28th ult. The chief topic
,in his letters is in reference to the distress of the
'laboring classes Throughout the kingdom.
Among the late reports is one from Dublin, sta
ting-that his excellency the - Lord Lieutenant and
Mr. Labouchere had tendered their resignationl
We do not credit the report.

ADVANCE IN BIZ.I.DSTC7II IN PRILIIVELPAIL.
—As soon as the 'foreign pews per steamer" Cale
doniareached Philadelphia. an irnmelate rise in
the price of flour took place. Fresh ground Penn
sylvania brands were held at $6, whilst $5,50 was
freely ofibred but firmly refused. The fair market
price was $ 5 , 7 5a55:87i-41d 25 cts less. Wheat
also greatly advanced in price. 3000 bushels o
wheat sold on Friday last at $1,25. Pennsylvania, ,
reds sold at $1,20, and Southern at $1,15. Corn
was offered at 80 cts. per bushel, but no sales at
that price. It was selling at 75 cents.
ajb A correspondent of the Baltimore Sun, in
writing from Washington city under date of Oct.
22d, says:
Instructions were received at our Navy Yard
yesterday, to get the steamer• Water Witch" ready
for service immediately. She is probably destined
for the Rio Grande.
°niers have been issued from the Department
to-day,_to the Commanderof the Portsmouth Navy

BT LAST NibllT'S SOCTUEIM MAIL.—We TO
ceived last night, says the Baltimore Sun of the
24t,h New Orleans papers of the 15th inst., leav
ing one mail still due. They contain no fresh in-
telligence from the Army. though we find in the
Southern papers come items of interest. The New
Orleans Tropic contains the following:—
Lieut. E, R. Price—His Melancholy Fate.—ln
telligence4i-was received at Natchez, on Monday
last, of the` fate of Lieut. Ezra IL Price, who, in
company with two other U. S. Volunteers, had left
Camargo some weeks since to join the command
of General Taylor during his advance to MoOterey.
The informant states that the bodies of Mr. Price
and his two companions, were found lying in the
grass some distance from the road leading from
Camargo to Monterey, completely riddled with
Utillet-holes. The bodies of seventeen Mexican sob
dims werc lying scattered around them. Mr. Price
was the brother-in-law of Lewis Saunders, Jr., of;
Natchez, and was associated with him in the praC-:
Tice of the law. When the requisition was made!
upon the State of Louisiana for volunteers, he en
rolled himself in the -Sparrow Guards, - then being
raised at Concordia. and was elected 2d Edenton
ant of the company. Upon the disbanding of the!
J.nuisiana Volunteers, he determined still to devoie
himself to the cause of his country. and proceeded
:o Camargo for that purpose, meeting with the
abtive untimely fate. As he and his two compan- •
ions were armed with revoking. piatols, it is sup-1
posed they must have kuiled the sevcm,7e4 .Mericoaei
in a most despei ate encounter.

Mr Their virtues are, so infallible that the money
will be returned in all cities they do notgive univer
sal satisfaction. Although but two and a half years
have elapsed•since these -celebrated Pills were first
introduced to the public, the sale of them in the
Eastern and middle States has far exceeded Dr.
Clickener's most sanguine expectations. ; During the
past year, alone, no less than 10,000 gross. of boxes
halo been sold in the State of New York, 6,000 in
Pennsylvania, 4,000 in Maryland, 3,000 in New Jer- '
sey, 2,000 in Delaware, and 9,000 in the New England
States, requiring the constant employlnent of 27-
hands, exclusive 01 printers and engravers. In the.
same period, upwards of 200,000 , copies of the
"Family Doctor" have been ordered by agents in
! every section of the cnuntry. These !facts must
show, conclusively, that Dr. Clickener's Sugar Coat=
ed. Pills, besides being the very best:medicine in the!
world, are held in the hig, hestestimation by the public. I
We might extend this publication to IRA indefin-
ite length, if we deemed it expedient to publish all
tersimonials we have received, not only; from agents
but indiyi&luals and families, who have experienced
the benfieiar effects of Clickener's Sugar Coated
Pills, hut we deem it unnecessary. The most in
contestible evidence of their unprecedented success,
are the numberless Imitations and Counterfeits which
have already appeared, ninwithstanding the brief pe
riod they have been before the public. Even some
of oui staunchest pill , makers have had the audacity
to imitate the Capsuld , of Sugar, in order 'to disguise
the ingredients of their vile compiiiinds and palm
them off for the "real Simon pure."‘ Such paltry
shills Cannot last long without exposir4their hideous'
delbrieity. Truth and honesty. must idevitably pre-I
veil oiler rascality and deception.

IFIIIE unprecedented.success that had attended the
I use of these pills in - the . practice of the peoprie
tor tor -the last six ur eight years, thas induced Mtn
to yield to the importunities . of many who Jive used i
and been benefited by them, and make arrange- .
ments to place them within the reach of the nubile,
generally. In doing so he feels called upon to say;
that the Indian. Vegetable Restorative Pills is deci-I
dedly superior to any with which he is acquainted.
They combine the properties of many of the best
vegetable medicines (used in no other pills) in such
a manner as to afford net only immediate and tem
porary but permanent relief.
Thstyaluable tonic which enters into their com
position, by their action upon the secretory organs
hold in check the purgative principle, and induce a
gentle and natural ,oporatitn, without inconvenience
or pain, and while they/tistore a natural and healthy
action of the stomachs liver and bowels, they in
crease instead ofdirpinikhing the glotigth of the pa
tient. The general opini'm that a powerful and vio
lent purgative is necessary is founded in error; they
in general irritate the stomach and liciWrels, derange
the secretions, and are productive of very serious
contequences, and it shill:Lid be known that the great
mane of pills in general use aro composed. of the
most powerful and irritatingpurgitives, and act with
toe great a degree of violence, producing that de
rangement in the 'yeti= that is followed by can
stigation of the bowels, indigestion rind costiveness.
From these facts the natural inference would be
that to maintain uniform health it ii necessary to
correct unhealthy secretions, expel Morbid humors
and purify the system, by the use of medicine that
will am efficiently yet mildly, assist instead °file
ranging the organs of the system, and thus. bring na
ture in its proper and healthy channel, to accomplish
which no medicine is superior to the Indian Vegeta
ble Restorative Pills; their operation is, in ordinary
doses, to promote a natural and eau) , evacuation, and
at the same time by their tonic property impart vigor
and health • to the system, but when'a pownrful and
speedy operation is necessary, it will be accomplish
ed by increasing the dose, which-may be done with
perfect safety, as they are entirely Vegetable.
They have been used as a family medicine fur
years by many of the first respectabilityand Mato ,
they are not recommended to It heal ' all the ills
that flesh is heir toe , yet it has been found very rare
that it has been (4und necessary for those usingthem
to employ any other medicine, and their occasional
use will altimstinvariably prove an effectual preven
tive to disease. They are exactly adapted to the use
offamilies, travelers and seamen; they cleanse the
blood, causing a flee circulation—open the obstruc
tions and promote the secretions of healthy bile, and
consequently are an excellent medicine for nausea,
indigestion, nervous disorders, dejection, liver coin
plaint, pains in the head, lide and breast, costive
ness, loss ofappetite, urinary obstructions, ague and
fever, bilious and intermittent fever, dysentery, rheu
matism, scorfula, and are eminently useful in all fo•
male complaints—and in one word, all diseases aris
ing (torn unhealthy secretions and impurity of the
blued. Numerous testimonials-of their efficacy in
particular cases might be added,. but the proprietor
prethrs presenting a few certificates of their general
character, from persons of unquestionable.cando
and veracity, who would not in any degree lslipti their
influence to piomOte anything that is not of decided
utility, and rely upon their intrinsic merits to gain
them a reputation, feeling a perfect confidence that;
none will abandon their use who give them a fitir 1
trial.
heads of families should alwnyi keep a quantity
of Dr. Osborne's Indian Vegetable Restorative Pills
in the house; they never tail. For those mho are
subject to fits, headache, giddiness, dimness of sight
Or drowsiness arising from too great allisw of blood
to the head, should take these pills in preference to
anything else, as they are a sure remedy.
Females who value good health should never be
without Dr. Oaborne , s Indian* Vegetable Restorative
Pills, as they purify the blood, remove-obstructions,
and give the skin a healthful, clear, healthy and be
coming appearance. It has been admitted by a num
ber of physicians that females cannot too highly value
these pills.

DR. CHRISTIVS GALVANIC RINGS . ARD MAG•
T :
HIS remarkable invention, which has recoired '
the universal approbation of the medical profess
siun of Great Britain, comprises an entirely new ap
plication ofGalvanism, as a remedial agottissen - -
of which the ordinary Galvanic Batteries, Electric
and Magaetie Machines, &c., are entirely dispensed'
with, and the mysterious.power of Galvanism applied
without any of the objectionswhieh are inseparable
from the general mode cow in eats. The strong des- • .
ea, and irregular intervals, in which Galvanism iv ap
plied by the Machine!' Las been pronounced, after •
fair and impartial trial, to bo decidedly istfurtous, and •
it was to remedy this radical defect that this new op.
plication was projected, which, after unceasing toil,
and perseverance, has been "brought to its present
state ofperfection. The Galvanic Dings answer all
the purposes of the most •expensive - Machines, .and ;
in many other respects are more safe and certain In
