THE NEWS - ANDI TFIE MARKETS.
The news by the. Hibernia was received too late
on Saturday,afternoon to 'ascertain its probable ef
fect on the markets. The probability is, however,
tht the prices of last week will be fully maintain
ed, with an advance in corn , unless private letters
should not warrant the: ccounts published.
The New York Exprese of Saturday,- says:—
The news has made quite a sensation in the flour
market. Holders of Flour feel as it the accounts
from the Continent would' sustain markets; sel
lers, however, are willing to meet buyers; and
about 5000 bbls: of Genessee and Michigan have
been sold at $5,323., and .smaller parcels .a shade
higher.
In consequence of the further advance in Liver
pool mast of the holders pat up the price of Corn
to 135c4 there are no buyers over 80c. Prices may
be quoted at 75 to 81k. Wheat is without change.
Holders of Cotton anticipated the rise in Liver
pool and are not disappointed: The market has
-gone up to i• cent.
The New York Journal of Commerce also says:
We hear of no sales of grain for shipment, thmigh
'the arrival of the Hibernia has produced more firm
ness on the part of holders. •
Sales 10,000 bbls. Genessee and _Michigan flour
at $5;G27i, and afterwards: 1500 bbls. at $5.75. A
parcel of Michigan at $5,60. Sonie flat hooliOhio
$5,56 .
Sale a cargo of, oats at 38c. bushel. A parcel
• western mixed corn at 60c. and 1500 bus, white
-at the same Price. -Some rye for distilling at 80c.

cr,Last night, about 73 o'clock, after our paper
was prepared for press, Mr. liana's, one of the
Editors of the Gazette, called at our office, and
produced a Manuscript, which he pledged his word
was a genuine copy of Mr. -liatopton'S' Pearincia
rim- of Masonry, as originally pablistg 'in the
Somerset Herald, of sth June, 1832. Mr. Han
ars claimed that be was entitled tothe.ss Reward,
which was offered in the Post of yesterday, for a
copy of Mr. Hampton's renunciation, and we in
stantly- paid over to him'the amount, ;in the
pre
sence of several persons. We publish below; the
renunciation, as set up from Mr. Hannrs' manu
script. We had no idea that Mr. Hainpton had
ever written a doeuinent 60 vile and abusive in its
language towards an Institution which numbers,
among its members, hundreds and thousands of the
most respectable and honorable men of the ay..—
. We hope Mr. Harris will have $3,56 ofthe amount
we, paid him for Warded to Uniontown; to pay the
balance due by Mr. Hampton to the Lodge.
Front the Somerset Herald of June 15th
FOR 'MIR SOMERSET nniumn
Mr. Editor:--After long and painful re.
Election on the nature and tendency of the
principles of Freemasonry, I am reluctant
ly indaced by a sense of imperative duty,!
publicly to withdraw from that Institution,!
and set upon it, the seal of my unqualified
disapprobation., I said reluctantly, not'
from any. partiality I have as present, or'
ever had for the Institution, but because itj
always gives rrie pain, however imperious
the necessity to do an act which I know!
will offend any of those whom I have pla-1
ced on my list of friends. Many of th.si
claSs either unaoqt.ainted with the true;
character of this institution; or feeling!
their consciences bound' by its Iron fetters,
yet remain nominally, at least, within its
unhallowed pales. Let such examine the ;
subject carefully by the light of truth, mar.!
shall all their moral energies, breast the I
storm, and dare to be' free. But of such as;
have nailed their flag to'its shattered masts,!
and determined to perish With the last rent-1
nant of its wreck, in judging of my motives,;
I bespeak the exercise of their boasted;
charity. 1
The judgment I have been enabled to form
of the true character of the Institution, isi
the res Ult of careful and impartial insestigre!
ion for some years.. And I have no doubt;
the saute cenclusion will eventually !force!
itself uporreVery mind that will thoroughly!
! examine, the subject unbiased by prejudice;
or interest, aithxl by the torch of truth and!
reason.
Six years ago: induced by. the fat-arable!
character . of the Institution and the recom-;
mendation of a friend I entered its mystic!
pales, and on receiving assurance that 'there ;
was nothing in it to effect my religion orl
polities, I assumed the obligations of the;
three' first degrees, the true import and ex.!
tent of which I understood but little better:
than if the/ had been rehearsed to me in;
the language of the Ilindoo or Ilotteutot.!
But the revelations of the higher degrees!
made since, show that I was not only in-!
veigled out of my liberty, but had pledged!
my life to, remain in perpetual vassalage!
to an extensive and powerful body whose!
laws and operations in all the degrees above!
me (which amount to about fifty) were as!
dark andinscrutable as those of the secret'
Tribunal of Germany or the Holy
tion of Spain.
I deem it unnecessary for my present
purpose to discuss the principles of the. In
stitution; the public it is conceived, is fully
informed on that subject. mid to that infer.
tnation I beg leave to refer them, for my
apology for appearing before theta ut this
time.
The knowledge of one fact along, how.
ever, is sufficient to justify its abandon
ment, and that is, it iS a 119C1C53 one, and is
capable in the hands of had Inca of doing
much mischief. HAMPTON."

are the numberless Imitations and Counterfhits which -
have already appeared, notwithstanding the liriuf

of our staunchest pill makers have had the audacitY
to imitate the Capsule of Sagas, in order to disguise
the ingredients of their vile compounds, and poim
them off for the "real Elision pure." Such' paltry
