To Clsax Paixt. A correspondent
cf the Country Gentleman says : Use
but little watvr at once ; keep it warm
nnd clean by changing it eften. A flan
nel clotli takes off fly specks better than
cotton. Soap will remove the paint ; so
use but little of it. Cold tea is the best
liquid for cleaning varnished paint, win
dow panes and mirrors. A sharp piece
of soft wood is indispensable for clean
ing out corners. A saucer of sifted
ashes should always be at hand to cleau
utivarniahcd paint that has become- b rally
smoked; it is Letter thau soap. 'Never
put soap upon glass unless it can be thor
oughly rinsed off, which can nevr-r be
done lo window glass Wash off the
ppecks with warm tea, and rub the panes
dry ; then make a pajto of whiting and
water, and put a little in the centra of
each pane. Take a dry cloth and nib
it all over the glass, and then wipe it off
wilh a chamois ekin or flanutl, aud your
wiudows will shine like crvstal.
Clrb fob Founder. A correspon
dent of the Western Rural recommends
as a sure cure for foundered horses, that
some old woolen blankets or rags be
taken if woolen rags are not handy,
ttke etraw and wrap the legs tight up
as high as you can conveniently, then
take hot water, hot enough to scald the
bair off a well horse, pouring it around
vhe horse's legs unlii they are will
soaked ; then in an hcur serve the esme
way, except the water should not be
quite so hot, aud in two hours he will be
89 well as ever. There is no danger cf
injuring the animal, as would be the case
with tutpentiue- The horse is paralyzed ;
the limbs are cold, and the hot water
will make the blood circulate aud creates
perspiration.
In buy iDg furs blow "against the set
of the fur," and if the fibre opens easily
and shows the skin, don't buy ; but if
the down next to the skin is bo dense
that the current of breath doesn't pene
trate it eo as to reveal much of the skin,
the article is good. So says a 'professed
expert.
