by lightning Iat week during a ftorm
dam iging it lightly ; some men who had
sought sheJter in it were kuocked down
by the shock.
Tbe lightning struck tbe telegraph
wires near Granville station on Wednes
day afternoon, portions descending down
about twenty posts, splintering some.

they all fell like receiving a blow on the
head.
During the thunderstorm on Monday
afternoon, the dwelling house on East
Market street, owned and occupied by
Mrs. Culhertsnn and her son was rtrnck

chimney of the back building, scattering
the soot and a strong smell of sulphur in
all directions Mrs. (libbs, a colored
woman who was washing for the family
was knocked down and somewhat stun
tied. This is tbe first iustance of a bouse
being struck in town for several years.
