Facts of intkkkst As the qnestion
is frequently asked, "Which is the best
ewing machines ?" The following item-
jzeJ fac8 might he of benefit. Sewing
machines are like books. Those gotten
Up hastily are as a general rule mostly
copied, ami of an inferior grade. The
oldest established machine iu the world
is the "Howe." Elias Howe, Jr., in
ventor of the sewing machine, after he
had been euccessfull iu bis undertaking,
spent more time in perfecting Lis ma
chine, than all other sewing machine
I men taken together ; and it is acknowi
! edged by all unbiassed machines, that
I the "Howe" contains finer points of per
i feclion than any other machine in ex
I isteuce. The public know it to be dura
! ble. A conclusive - evidence - is that
can not be said of anv other machine.
While many machine companies have
had their rise aud fall their machines
once popular, now scarcely known the
Howe Machine Company built addition
after addition to their factory, and to-day
can not supply the demand, although
turning ont over six hundred machines a
day -just one machine a minute more
machines than are manufactured of any
one kiud in the world It stands ahead,
of every machine in the world. It takes
the lead in this State, and about two
hundred and fifty Howe machines are in
use in this county more than all other
sewing machines taken together. All
give satisfaction. It was awarded the
highest premium at the fair in Perrysviile
last fall and has invariably been award
ed the highest premiums at the principal
fairs throughout the world. In range
and variety of work it cannot be equall
ed. It ia light ruuuing, simple and re
liable.
The Russell Reaper and Mower should
be in the possession of every farmer. It
would save their horses, as it runs light
and puts no weight on the horses' necks.
The gearing of this machine is encased,
so that neither dust, dirt nor sand can
get into it The machine is simple in its
construction, and is strong and well made.
It mows 4 feet 6 inches wide, and reaps
6 feet wide, and has dropper and self
rake. The cutter-bar is behind.
