The Timsville Mming Herald of the
10th iust , chronicles the death of Mr
Knoch L. Anderson The following
obituary uoiice, taken from the above
named paper, will be read with interest
by the citizens of Tuscarora Valley,
among whom be lived some sixty years :
We referred yesterday to the danger
ous illness of .Mr. Enoch L. Anderson,
father of George K. Anderson, Esq., of
this city. We have to day to chrouicle
the fatal termination cf his illuess, which
occurred at three o'clock yesterday
morning, at the residence of his son
The deceased was in the 76th year of
his age, and was born iu Cumberland
county. Pa. He came of good Bevolu
tionaiy stock. His father was Colonel
KuiH'b Au ier-oo, who was one of five
brothers who served in the Revolution
ary war, or in Geo Washington's army,
as the saying was. Tbe brothers of
Enoch Anderson settled ia Maryland,
Tennessee and Kentucky, and have en
joyed State and National honors to a re
markable extent, twenty of the family
having been members of the House of
Kepreaentalives at Washington, and four.
United States Senators. One of the
uncles of the deceased aud the most dis
tinguished of the name was for eighteen
years a member of the United Slates
Senate, and at one time President of that
body, and filled at one period the ntfice
of Comptroller of the Treasury. A cou
sin of the deceased was for forty years
in the United States Treasury depart
ment, and a few years since contributed
some interesting reminiscences to this
paper. I

He kept it pure through all trials and
temptations From 1800 to 1S63 tbe de

a large family, of ten children, nine of
