A writer gives the following methods lor destroying weevils aud other insects, which he has thoroughly tested by ex perience, and has the merit of being i cheap and convenient : j ' It is simply to sweep aud clean out the granary, and then wet it all over on the inside with strong pickle of common salt. This drives out all sorts of insects aud worms, penetrates the timbers of the barn, and kills the worms which arc to apt to gat iu them and preserves the timbers in a wonderful manner. After this process is repeated for several times the limbers of the barn become saturated with the salt, and will last foronehundred years. The pickle should be carried up and thrown upon the joist aud sides of the barn, until the whole is thoroughly wet." To CooK AN OLD FoWL.
