Important Notick. .It a u.eetiug
of the School Directors of the borough
of MifHintown, held on Friday evening
last, the following rosolutiou was unani
mously adapted. The citizens of Fer
managh township living adjacent to our
borough have now an opportunity of send
ing their children to school wore conve
nient to their homes, and at what it costs
to school a p'ipil in our own borough.
JiisoheJ, That, ic order to harmonize
the ieeling that lias existed fur a number
of years bstween the School Directors ol
the boroni-h f Mifflintown and the citi
zens of Fermanagh township living it,
the vicinity of the said borough, we pro
pose to thciu tht if ihe-y pay the School
Director:, of said borough the sum o:
51,00 for each scholar they will be hi
luilted info our schools, (die-hall ol the
amount to be paid at the comuieneeuieiii
tit the scholar going to school, and the re
jnaining half to be paid when the term of
sehuul is half expired. The agreement
t- be made by the Secretary of the School
Hoard of said h"rungh previous to the
tcholar being admitted to our schools.
TOY OITSCf.S.
Got offices at last. It is well known
that Jerry Lyons and Wiisoa Jamison,
ihe ictic win, have beta wanting office
fur years. They were always gready for
fuything even down to school director and
found they could not get any from the
lti'publicaus and sold out to the Locofocos
nud Andy Johnson has already rewarded
by sending them to Pitsburg last week as
jurors to the U. i Court. lJig tbin
Toys always please children, and these lit
tle fellows were terribly tickle! with their
toyottces. They invested their pay in
copperhead baJges, belly guts aud sugar
candy and arc now the saueiest boy6 in
tjie county. The Judge said he would
pny them but did not need any of that
liud of jurors at this time one being a
dummy aud the other a fool and that
if he needed any of that kind he would
send for theiu. Bully for Judge McCan
dlcH, bully for each offices, bully for the
iiT8 who wanted toitoD a jury and were
put oft because they were too dumb, and
vere sent hpr;e with their pockets full of
t nidy and their heads full ol conceit.
The election ot Julge Sbarswood is
only the substitution of one Copperhead
(or another on the Supreme Bench of the
State, which will Dow stand Head, Aguew
and Strong, Republican, to Thompson
and Sharswood, Peuioeiats. llou. M.
Uusel Thayer is being strongly pressed .
