passed the Legislature finally.
. Notice to Subscrirers. As many
of our subscribers are changing their
places of residence, they will please give
us notice so that we can forward the
Sentinel regularly to them.
Ot"R young friends, John II. and Wil
liam II. Rollmao, have recently had their
room re-fitted and it now presents a very
neat appearance. From the fact that tliey
are the only firm that advertise in the
Sentinel, we believe they cau sell their
goods cheaper than any other establish
ment in the county.
Changes. General moving day will
soon be at hand. Among other changes
is that of landlord. T'ie Union. Hotel,
purchased by Mr. S. P.. Xotestine, is to
be closed. Mr. Xotestine takes the Ju

An Accommodation Tram has been

turning, leaves UarrUhurg at 12,.r0 P.

train will prove a great accommodation to
the people on the line of the road.
We understand the yju.ig iusu of this

We hope they may succeed in their un
dertaking, for something of the kind
would not only be beneficial, but w-ulu
be the means of keeping them out of sa

A Soi.DlER friend desires us to ssy that
he geen his name published in ci'tit-ctii n
with the copperhead meeting in Perry?-,
ville ana that it was so nscJ without his
consent He further said that he is op
poised to Fympa'hy with treason, let it be
called a Juhncon meeting or by any other
name, and that he can not ufii.iare with a
net of men who j;ave their sywpaihy and
moral support to the rebels in th-iirtlfirts
to overthii'T the Government, while he
was languishing in a sou;heru prison pen.
A just rebuke.
We hoar it stated that Barnum is very
anxious to purchase the jieco of ordnance
tisel at the copperhead (miscalled John
sou") meeting in Perrysville two weeks
ago. It is the last relic of the army thtit
linrched on Washington, and is prized as
a great curiosity. The caliber of this
caution is the same ai that used in our
army to Btrap on the buck of a jackass,
and we presume it was usel'in the same
manner on the occssiou alluded t3 above,
as the asses assembled at that meeting
were very numerous.
The Spring Ei.kctixns. P'ri.iay the
l'ith inst., is the daj for tho election of
'officers for our 5oroaghs auJ Township?.
The people shou'J see to it, that none but
careful, prudent, honest men be chosen
to mairage fiuancial affairs, and that elec
tion officers, justices and Coustablcs be
well informed, vigilant, thoro.t-ih men, to
preserve the purity of the ballot box and
the public peace, and to prevent a load
of paupers being imposed upon us. Nev
er, therefore, bad the great body of our
people more necessity to be cannons and
wise in choosing their domestic rulers,
who are to guard our richts, preserve the
peace, and expend our money.
tei" The Senate of the State and Union
Stale Conventioa have both pased rcso j
lutious, requesting the Hon. EJgar Cow-'
n to resign his position as U. S. Senator
lor this State. Mr. Cowan, ever since
the war began, has acted mainly ia oppo
sition to the policy of the Union party,
voting with the democrat, but always
giving difi'crnt reasons for his course.
He is charged with accepting an invita
tion to address the copperhead club of
York county. This would seem to fchow
that he has left the Union party openly
nd become coovett to democracy, af
filiating with the worst traitors that ever
aimed to destroy a Datiun aud lcaviu a i
party whose only aim is tliu salvation and '
perpetuation of the Union.
JSTho refusal of Maj. (Jen. Meade I
to accept a uoiuiaatiou for Governor at !
the hands of the 1'enusylvat.ia copper
heads, bas fallen on that party like a wet
blaultet. Meade was always quoted as a
democrat. His repudiation of that clique
