The Island. Every stranger coming
to our jilacc observes in the rivef just
above towa an ait which commonly goes
by the familiar term "Bell's Island."
We had the pleasure the other week . or
spending an afternoon upon it and mak
ing some observations . of interest. (- The
Island comprises about one hundred acres
and is nearly all cultivatable: ' The h'sh-
est spot is back of the buildings, and sev-
B
cral acres have never, been, known to be
under " water,' even during the highest
floods. There Is enough of terra firma to
make it a safe and comfortable residence.
The tnain channel's on thc.rail road side
of-the river. .It, is remarkable as the
only island of the size and character
along the Juniata. It was once no doubt
the retired residence, and perhaps, even
battle ground of the Indians as a great
many arrows and other relics are found
on it even to this day. It is a wonder
that when the bridge over the river was
first made, that it was not made so as to
touch at the point of the Island, however
we observe . that "the everlasting pine
squirrel" and; some . other auinu'let find
their wav unon it without a bridge. . A !

Pa. Wishabt. I have been a constant euf

ever enjoyed a perfectly well dsy. There
were times when the symptoms, were more ag

lead weigh', as it were, resisted upon my,
orain ;' also, a feeling of sickness would occur
at the stomach, and grt pain'to my eye,
accompanied with which was the continu
fear of losing my reason. I a!jo experienced
great lassitude, debility and nervousness,
which made it difficult to. walk by day or steep
it night. ' 1 became averse to society, and
disposed only .to seclusion, and having trie.!
the skill of a number of eminent physician
of varices schools, finnlly came to the the ecu
elusion that, for this disease at my present
age (15 years) there was no cure in existence
But, through the interference of Divine Trot
