We doubt whet`wr this is to any great ex

inclined to adopt such a course as this, as
there a!ways are in the case of any crop

it is the few frightened folks who have
started this idea of the imprialnctiveness

these that the newspaper reports have

think of giving np farming altogether. as
to give np the, corn crop. True if he
governed hams,-1f by western prices, it
would frighten 'him. T. calculate tha
corn is worth 25 coots in a bushel, and
that it won't pay to grow corn at that

ins, on matters like-the4e. Even our own
market town, is not a fair comparison,
the crop on gr,w,d witliont

worth twenty per cent. added to the
priee.
But here in the Middle States, or a'
least these parts of them wh eh consti

corn tells but half the sh,ry. The fodder
trell cured and cared r.r is a , least worth
as much as the h mtin, which at once doub

but beyond all this is the great additton

We are quits snrelhat no intelliget t
eastern farmer will endorse the rep rt
that corn growing does not pay in therast
and is being abandoned ; and we should
be sorry to see such an idea obtain gen,r
al currency.
