primary element in the economy of his exis
tence ; it lies at the foundation of the social
structure ; its necessity is stamped by the im
press of the Creator's hand upon every moral
and material lineament of his being.

In arranging the preruiurd list we have en
deavored to get as near the wants and wishes of
every one interested in the welfare of the So
ciety as our means would admit. We aim to
make the Fair of 1870 at least as interesting and
valuable to all as its predecessors have been.
There are now twenty-five covered stalls,
mostly new, with mangers. A well is now be•
ing dug on the gmnnd, and stock will be well
cared for during the Fair.
We earnestly invite every family In Suiure
bonne county to come out to the annual lair,
September 14th, 15th, and 16th, as that is the
best place and time to see and welcome our
friends. We say, come one, come all.
RULES AND REGULATIONS.
1. The Committee and Secretary have an of
fice on the Fair Grounds, where the Judges are
requested to meet at 2 o'clock on the second
day, when their names will be called and va
cancies filled; and they will be furnished with
the Books of Entry, when they will proceed to
decide upon the merits of du articles and ani
mals entered for premiums, and report in writ
ing 12 o'clock Friday, third day.
2. It Is important that all persons appointed
on Awarding Committees should be present at
that hour. The Judges can resort for instruc
tions and to make out reports to the office.
3. Any animal entered for exhibition in one
class cannot compete in any other class, except
as one of a herd or for sweepstakes. The award
ing committees will be furnished with cards,
designating first and second premiums, which
they will of .x to the animal or article accord
ing to their award.
4 The judges shall in all cases withhold
premiums when the animal ot, article is not
worthy, though there be no competition.
5. Exhibitors wishing to compete for pre
miums most have their animals or articles en
tered on the Secretary's Book the second day of
the Fair, and a card, which will be received
from the Secretary, II C Tyler, must he placed
on the animal or article to be exhibited. They
must be all on the ground for exhibition by 11
o'clock, n. m., of the second day, or they cannot
receive a premium. No animal or article can
he removed before the close of the exhibition,
except by permission of one of the Executive
Committee.
B. It is very desirable that all whieles enter
ing the enelo,ed ground should be kept in mo
tion.
7. Superintendents of the different depart
ments will hare all animals and articles .ys
tematically arranged. The officers of the so
cieq. and superintendents will be known by
their official badges.
B. No premium will be awarded to any per
son exhibiting articles or animals not entered in
the name of tie bona fide owner of the same.
O. Premiums not called for within six months
will be considered donated to the Society.
A sufficient police force will be in attendance.

No provision will be made for stalling stock
over two years old.
Those driving in stock can be accommodated
with pasture as follows: Those coming from
the north and New Milford, at N.. 8. Searle's :
from Brooklyn, at William Jessup's; from
Springville, the Wvalusing, the Wmt, and Owe
go Turnpike, at J. 8. Tarbell's firm, formerly
Perkins'.
All the Judges and Superintendents that are
here in time will lacive a ticket for a free din-

The gates will be open from 7 o'clock a. in.
until 6 p. in. each day. •
Wednesday, September 14th. first day, fore
noon, will be devoted to arranging the grounds
and buildings. Two o'clock p. in. the Plowing
Match-
Thursday, September 16th, second day, en-
tering orsiock and all articles till 11 o'clock a.
m. At 1 o'clock p. m. Horse Exhibition. At
2 o'clock the Judges will take the books of en
tries. At 4 b'clock, promiscuotts driving on the
track.
Friday. September.l6th, third day, from 9 to
10 a. m. sale and exchange of stoat and articles.
At 10 o'clock a. m. a grand cavalcade of horses
in lusntees, enteral for premiums, will take place
on the track. At 1014 o'clock, at the call of the
Superintendent, class first will aik6m-ble in front
of the audgc. stand fur exhibitloti and filial in
spection. At 11 o'clock single and matched
horses. At 1114' o'clock, colts. At 1214: sweep
stakes exhibition on the track. At 2 o'clock p.
m. the address. At 4 o'clock, announcement of
the award of premiums. To conclude with an
exhibition of general driving on the track.
ADMISSION.
Membership tickets (not transferable) will be
sold for a dollar, which will entitle such mem
ber to admission during the Fair, and 411 SO to
two single tickets for Ins family or others, and
such single tickets will be gooa (Or one admis
sion only.
Single tickets 25 cents for one admission only.
Children under 10 and over 6 years of age. IS
cents. Clergymen and their families admitted
free of charge.
AU double teams and carriages driving in
except those taking in articles for exhibition,
will pay 25 cents each.
Any person, on purchasing a membership
ticket, will have his name registered in the
Treasurer's, book, and also on his ticket, and
become a member for one year.
The Montrose Comet Bond will be in attend
ance.
