by the tilling of the roof at the old works of the

man was also seriously injured. It took the uni
ted efforts of fourteen men to remove the rock
from their bodies.
On the 14th, a little boy, son of Widow Berry
living ori, Mifflin avenue, while in bathing with
another lad, was carried under by tin current
and drowned. His conrpanion gave the ularm,

o'clock last evening. lie was about 7 years old
and nn only child.

while going to - his home in the 6th ward, saw
S. Wallace, Jos. Malarkey and John Dougherty
interfering with a drunken noun. Being remon
strated with by Morgan, they turned upon him
and billeted a deep wound with a knife in the

to Wilkesbarre
On Saturday night, the 11th, the usual scenes
of lawlessnes4 cominenced at an emilv ho our, and
was continued until early Sunday morning.—
Between 11 and 12 o'clock, Mr. Henry Rounds,
living Penn Arcane; bft thesabon of Miller &
Son, and while on his way through the alley, he
was set upon and most shamefully beaten, and
but for arrival of assistance would have been
murdered.

lage, one of them, William C. Ettsitll, a respect
able young man of sixteen Years, was drowned.
Ile was a good swimmer, but it is supposed was
taken with cramp in his limbs, and, before as
sistance could be liad ivas dead. He was it son
of Benj. F. Edsall, a respected citizen of Nich
ols. Within the last eight pmts. Mr. Edsall
has last his wife, tyre; sons, and two daughters,
all of his children but one, a girl nine years old.

unable, only temporarily to relieve his suffer
ings. lie was carried to his residence on the
south aide of the Susquebahna river, where he

a full gallop. The heat and race was decided in
favor of the Boy and Girl ; time 2:50.
