Death of Impeachment.
On Friday last the impeachment ques
tion came before the House for consider:-
lion, and its friends found themsi4ves
beaten two to one; and it was only by a
resort t filibustering that, they kevented
:,,it * lrcita being tabled. An adjournment
.only postponed the death till Saturday.
So dies impeachment, and the party that
!tried to keep alive upon it. its worst-and
beat success was to show the poisonous
gangs and strike itself to death.

Monuniont to Rev. Hugh Monahan.
The announcement made from the

trio, viz:—the erection of a monument
to our late Pastor, Rev. Hugh Monahan,
.on Wednesday, Nov. 27th, attracted a
large concourse of people to our little vil
lage. From an early hour crowds could
be seen wending their way toward the
beautiful church of the Holy Family an.c
ions to gain admittance, and testify by
their presence their affection and venera
tion for him who so well and faithfnl:y,
during seven years, ministered to their
wants and consoled them in their Milk
-tions. A magnificent monument, of Ital
ian marble, standing, about ten feet in
height, was firmly set upon its bade at 10
o'clock,' npd. immediately after, Solemn
