Intend Ravens.
There are some important, changes in:
the Revenue laws. Incomes are \ exempt
to the amount of MOO. No to on car
riages, etc. unless worth $3OO. The an
nual assessment upon incomes, gold
watches, etc., is to be made in March in
stead oeMay. The stamp upon affidavits
is not now required. Certain legal docu
ments—writs, warrants, confession of
judgment, and all papers used in collect
ing back pay, bounty, pensions, etc., fur
soldiers, are exempt.
Any person who shall sell, give away,
or use, an empty cigar box, which has
been stamped, without first defacing or
destroying the stamp, is liable to fine or
imprisonment ; and it is lawful for a cigar
inspector or revenue officer to destroy
any such box upon which a stamp shall be
found.

Beware of circulars dated at Williams
burg, N. Y., and mailed at N. Y. City,
which offer to send a watch or jewelry
worth $4O or $5O, on receipt of $3 30.
They also offer to send a book for $1
which pratends to teach how to do many
impossible things. Money sent to such
patent swindlers bad better be cast into
the tire.

The Harford . Agricultural Society will
meet on Monday, March 25, at I o'clock,
P. m., for the purpose of locating a Fair

Susq'a Depot Items,
On the night of the 26th ult. John Con
nelly fell through the Railroad bridge, a
distance of eighteen fret, crushing his
skull, and killing him instantly. The fol
lowing is the verdict of the jury, furnish
ed by G. Curtis, Esq.:
"That said John Cone found dead
tinder the open railroad bridge, came to
his death by a fracture oflis skull, the re
sult of falling through said bridge, or by
a blow from the hands of some person un
known to the jury.'
Two men fell through the same bridfr
on last Saturday night, but fortunately ;
neither one was Wed, although one of
teem had a collar bone broken.

D3stractivo Fire in Binghamton.
Ga Sunday morning last, between the
hours of 12 and 1 o'clock, a fire broke out
it Trent tin's livery, which was . kept in the
re.,r of Per Lee's ext-itange lintel, and be-
I•tro it cou'd bc sub hued, four stores. two
liverie4, a hotel barn and a bowling alley
were destroyed, together' with sixteen
horses and thirty hogs. The property lost
by this cot& ignition is valued at $BO,OOO,
was partly coverei by insurance.
And also_s_he omnibus horses of the
exeirtnge 'Motel, together with Col.
J. ne's carriage horses, were destroyed.
IL is supposed it Was Ike work of an in
cendiary. Fred. Wentz. who, male him
self notorious in connection with the fires
in Binghamton last fill, has been arrested
on suspicion of being the guilty party.

prisoned; nature of treatmeni; r and-, the
