Fire in Bridgewater. •
On Monday afternoon of last week the
clothing factory of Mott Brothers, near
Jones' Lake, was destroyed by fire.

New Hotel
('apt. Jacob Robinson intends to erect
a fine brick Hotel on the lots corner of
Lackawanna and Franklin Avenues du
ing the present season. The building will
he 125 feet front and 50 deep, and four
glories high. It is the intention ,of Capt.
Itobinson to make this one of the most
beautiful and costly building in the ci; y.
The location for a first-class hotel is cen
tral, but a short distance from the Depot,
and under the manazeinent of sonic en-
I and popniar landlord, it must

Firs in Franklin.
OA Tuesday evening lam, the house of
Andrew Watson, in Franklin, was de
s ro)ed by fire, together with its entire
contents, furniture and clothing—also,his
Jr,k,. The family left, about dusk,
but little. fire in the stove, and that
covered with ashes. The fire was discov
ered t v tHrlibors about 8 o'clock, and
:•cetued to have originated in the end of
the hou4e farthest from the stove. The
can•ze of the fire is , therefore, a mystery.

OTICE Is hereby given that the undersigned has
been appointed by the President of the United
States, Assessor of Internal Revenue for the 12th Col
lection District of Pennsylvania, composed of the coun
ties of Lifsertio and dnequettanna. The following ap
pointments have been made of Assistant Assessors :
F. W. Bona, New Milford. Dilation A, comprising
the townships of New Milford, Great Bend, Liberty,
Oakland, Harmony, Thomson, Jackson, and the bor
oughs of New Milford, Great Bend and Susquehanna
Depot.
D. H. Mouse Carbondale. Ditrision 5, comprising
Carbondale city and township, Fell, Greenfield, Scott,
and Blakely.
L. H. Lrrrs, Pittston. Division 8, comprising Pitts
ton, West Pittston, the townships of Pittston, Spring
Brook, Covington, Lackawanna, Newton and Ransom.

Ward No. 1 of Wilkesbarre, except t bat portion of Riv
er Street between Market and Union, and the town

The assistant assessors in the other divisions remain
as heretofore.
All persons residing within any of these Divisions
will make their returns to the assistant assessor of their
proper division, and make application through him for
a permit - to transact any business reqniring payment of
special tax; and any person neglecting to make returns
is liable to portal tg.
All assessors and assistant assessors are required by
law to note any breach of the Internal Revenue laws,
both in not affixing proper stamps, Or' in. trammeling
business without having, paid the special tax when the
same is required, and to seport the came to thi proper
