L air We are informed that on Mon , day evening, of last week, a sleighing par ty numbering ten—five young men and five young women—left St. Clair to go to Mabauoy city. Oa the mountain between the two places they were stopped by nine men armed with revolvers. It may seem incredible,. but it is positively stated that the robbers stripped the occupants of the sleigh of their clothing, leaving nothing but the underclothing of the women, and the buffalo robes that were in the sleigh. The robbers then compelled them to turn back and return to • St. Clair.—Pottsville Journal. We published the above a few weeks ago. It is a rich sell, if the Tamaqua Jonnuei is to be believed, which states that the occupants of the sleigh were a party of married men with women other than their wives, who were out for a good time " en the sly," thinking their spouses knew nothing about it; and that the " High waymen" were the wives of the aforesaid gentlemen, who, baying got wind of the delinquency of their liege lords, had dis guised themselves and Ivn in wait for the party, determined 6T this means to avenge themselves and punish the offenders. —At Honesdale Pa., on Friday, while a salute was being fired over the grave of Captain Joseph Seover, of the 'Twelfth Panasylvattia heavy artillery, a (sunup was discharged prematurely, - wcituiditig three men, two of them fatafly. We cannot sweet what is wanting to make a musi cal instrument more perfect, although we are slow to admit that the limit of improvement can ever be at tained. Before they bad brought their Pianos to their pres ent excellence, the/ had submitted them to competi tion with instruments of the best makers of this wan try and Europe, and received the reward of merit, over all others, at the celebrated World's Fair. It is butjus tice to say that the jndgment thus pronounced has not been overruled by the musical world. Still, by the improvements lately applied by them to their Pianos, it is admitted that a more perfect instru ment has been made. They have accordingly achieved the paradox of making excellence more excellent.— Surely, alter this, they are entitled to the motto, '• Ex celsior." [June 19-17 NEW TEEM MAHICETS.
