Iffelancholy Accident.
Frederick. Geitz and Walter Phillips,
engaged in repairing machinery at the
head of Bellaueshift, were precipitated
to the bottom, a distance of one hundred
and eighty feet, killing both instantly.—
Both men were highly respectable, and
enjoyed the confidence of the community.
Mr. Phillips was one of the memb,rs of
the Common Council of this city.—. Scra

This is the title of a new Agricu:tural
paper jnst started in Philadelphia. It is,
we believe, the only paper of its class pub
lished in Pennsylvania. The first number
presents a very creditable appearance,

The End of the World.
It may not be generally known that
Dr. Cummings and other prophets set
down the year 1866 as the close of all
things earthly. The facts of the world
having survived their limit for fully twen
ty-two days, and its being in excellent
condition to continue for an indefinite pe
riod, rolling on in the , path it has pursued
for thousands of
. years, has made these
false prophets quite chnpfallen..- They ac
cordingly again most reluctantly an
nounce a postponement.

A frightful coasting accident occurred
in Ithaca on Tuesday last week. Two lads
were riding down "East - Ell", and wbeu
going with great velocity ran•into a two=
horse buggy which was passing on' across
street. The shock was so great , that the
