No time should be lost by the Demo-
crate in organizing Clubs in every town.
A c cording to the unanimous vote of the
Do ty Committee, the officers of the
Clubs are to take charge of the delegate
elections ; and no other provision is made
for that purpose. As it, is.nearly time for
our County Convention to be held, the
Cobs must complete an organization at
a ce, so that the call can be issued.
Such Club Secretaries as have not, done so,
will report the names of officers at once;
and all will please send us a close estimate
rof the vote of each party before August
1503.

The Democratic Convention of Sullivan
c ounty met on the Slat, and presented
the name of lion. Wm. Elwell for Con
gress, and Hon. Geo. D. Jackson for Ben
ito. Mr. Jackson has proved to be a
s terling Democrat, an active, influential
legislator, a pure, upright citizen ; and is
in every respect wt I. fitted for the office,
and the district could do no better than
concur in his selection,
We believe Judge Elwell does not de
sire an election ; but if he could be in
duced to accept, he would be au honor to
the neat Congress.

A meeting of those interested in this
erenpany was held in town last, week, at,
which .1. G. Mahany, Sup't, was present,
and made a statement in reference to its
affairs. Owing to the Indian troubles,
and the high price of labor and supplies,
the working capital has been exhausted
without getting the mines into profitable
work; but Mr. M. assures the stockhoid
ere that its a bone fide enterprise, that the
property is worth more than it has cost,
and that when present hindrances are re
moved, arrangements can be made to re
same work with reasonable hopes of ul
timate success.
