1. There seems to be a great crowd of
scallywags in New York, who live by

or two, and other "jewelry" ,amounting

was to be sent for a few dollars. This
shows one how the rascals do business;
and anybody caught on such a bare hook
ap that, dVattves the fate. ' If the money
was sent as required, nothing would have
been heard of it again. When New

Upon a,,certain occasion, he wasseplit

but upon examination his leg was found
to be broken. A son of the old man was
in the vicinity, and a horse and carriage

take them home. When within a short
distance, Mr. Noble said he was afraid
it would come too sudden upon the old
woman, and he thought Oliver (his eon)
better go ahead and prepare her mind
for it." This was accordingly done and
when the party arrived at• the house, the

There is A passage in the annnal mes

—Tha readers of Rump Congressional
proceeding will understand, when they
read the Disunion. Fpeeches interpolated
with—'-" Applause from the galleries !"
that the applause' comes from the lips of
two or three hundred negroes, who are
fed and clothed by the Freedmen's Bu
reau, and who loaf by the day 011 the cush
inned seats of the galleries of the Rump.
Why - shouldn't. they applaud what is
bread and meat and clothing and idleness
for them, not to say prospective equality
with or supremacy over the poor white
masses-? It is theirs to clap, qnd laugh,
and applaud the Disunion blowers, and
they do it earnestly and vigorously.
SA" Culver, the Yankee banker of and
Disunion Congressman from the Penn
sylvania oil region was arrested and held
to bail for trial, last week, at the instance
of Senator Hoge, of Franklin, on a charge
of embezzling funds on special deposit
for the use of orphans and the erection of
the Venango Soldiers monument. It is a
pretty serious, business to be charged
with robbing the ftthqrless and. the dead.
—Wade Hampton denies that:Colum
bia, South. Carolina, was burned by bib or

Sherman. He lays it was fired by Feder
