Soldiers' Orphans.
To Secietaries of Sclool BOards: A plan
is in contemplation to provide, by the
State, for-the maintenance and education
-of "the poor oryhana of our soldiers who
have given their lives to the country in
this crisis." It is desired to ascertain the
number of snch children.
Will the

to me the number of indigent children in
his district '.whose fathers have been killed
or have died in the military or naval ser

tion is desired by the 10th of April.

itary Commission Fair, are desirous that
the schools of the State shall be represen
ted by contributions. Will all the children
who are willing to aid in this object, pre
pare such little articles as they can--i‘akes
of maple sugar, socks, mittens slippers,
.&c.,—anything that cowl:mealier used or
sold for the bZnefit of the sick or wounded
soldiers; collect them together in each
township or_convenient district, mark on
one corner of the box or package the name
of your township and county, and forward
it (without paying charges) to Edward

resolutions, which were unanimously
adopted.:. .
Whereas, It has pleased God to remove
from earth our venerable and beloved
President, 18.11.1.T0zr liscasnvsoN, M. D.,
and
Whereas, In view of this afflictive dis
pensation of Providence, we have meVat
this time to consider our bereavement,
.and make an appropriate expression of
the affectionate regard and profound re
spect we cherish for the memory of the
'deceased ; therefore
Res/dyed, That while we bow with snb
missiun to the Divine will, we feel that
our Medical Society, in the death of Dr.
Richardson, has lost a most efficient and
faithful presiding officer; the medical pro
fession an honored and highly esteemed
member;
and the community a citizen
whose place cannot easily be filled.
Resolved, That we will ever cherish the
memory of our dear, departed friend, and
that his example of zeal and fidelity in the
practice of the Healing Art, shall in ate us
'to increased earnestness and faithfulness
