incorrectly repotted; we have taken pains to

On .Friday evening, as Mr. Dickinson Was
riding home from his office, himself, the
driver and another person in the -wagon ; the
three.sitting•on the same seat, the horse took
fright as they passed under the -Railroad
bridge, fr - om some persons racibg horses on
ttie.road, and ran violently about ten, rods,
(one rein in the meantime breaking lo that the,
driver had no control ` of the animal,) , *hen
it turned in at, the gateway, leading to the
house, without any abatement of speed. Mr.
Dickinson, seeing _ that, the wagon would
„come in contact with , the left side of,the gate
way, the side on which he sal; and that he
must be dashed against the lodge It the side
of the gate, and very likely crushed-•btween
it and the wagon, cleared himself in time
from the wagon, by jumping ont aid thereby
probably saved his de. We are happy to
learn; that though much bruised by being
thrown "with , such violence upon the frozen
ground, no bones were broken and no inter
nal injuries sustained; ard that he ,will
probably be able to be abroad again in a
short time.

Yesterday Afternoon one of the female teach=
eh in the Chapman School, East Boston,dit
novercd o fire in the cellar of the building
kindled from tim furnace; and with great
presence of mind, privately informed the ague:
rat teachers in the building. The scholars lit
the eight rooms *do dismissed, and orderly
left the, building-without knowing the cause,
Soon after; and hefoie the two remaining
