A convention of delegates of free' colored
people of Maryland, to consult on removal te , l

outside. Thetlembers of the contention were
.proteeted from assault by the police. Several
luaever,were taught and beaten,nmong whom

aside. All the counties iii the State were
largely represented. The organization was
completed, and the convention 'adjourned tell

John and Abraham W. Rand have bud a
bearing under the writ of habeas corpus. The
judge refused to discharge, and remanded them
to jail, to answer the charge or . robbing. the
Portsmouth Bank.
