actually paying off the debt itself? Do
you believe them when they tell you your

• - The Drought in Ohio; -
The Cincinnati Gazette says : "ln, some
of the neighboring counties, the protracted
drought has produced serious, and in many
instances, distressing results. A. gentle
man just returned =from an excursion
through the Southern part of. the State, in
forms us that, in Adams country, be wit
nessed a sad condition of things. Large
creeks and streaus, supposed to be unfail
ing, have dried entirely up, leiving thons
ands ripen thousands of ishexposed to the
sun, omittinga pestiferous - stench, which
'affects the atmosphere for miles around.
Springs have failed, and farmers, in conse
quence, aro compelled toz dig for water, to
supply themselves arid cattle. Vegetation,
in all parts, is irreparably injured, and the
harvest, this Autumn, it is feared, will but
poorly compensate the,busbandman for, his
long continued industry and tail."
