the hungry ones partook with evident relish. A
" feast of reason and now of soul," consisting of
toasts, songs, and speeches, was anticiped after sup

absence amid perils of flood and field caused them
to yearn for the kindly 'greetings of the loved ones
at home, and hastily appeasing their hunger, one by
one they departed. Thus left to - their own re
sources for enjoyment, those who remained seemed
little disposed to prolong the entertainment, and
the closing proceedings were brief. A tune by the
Band and " The Star-spangled Banner," capitally

the company, closed the festivities.

The Mason t Hamlin Cabinet Organs.—No
one who hears these instruments will be surprised
at the very strong favor with which they arc regard
ed by our leading organists. Their quality of tone
is admirable, round, sonorous, pnre, and sympsthct
1c ; while they have abundant volume at tone for
any private house, and quite sufficient for smaller
churches and for such hells as are usually occupied
by Sunday-Schools. With all this, their capacity
for expression is wonderful, exceeding in some re
spects even that of the largest and moat costly
church organs. This is mainly etTected by the In
troduction of a men, operated upon an entirely new
principle, which gives the performer very efficient
control over the tones he produces The moderate
prices at which they are sold, and the little space
they occupy, are important practical advantages in
these Instruments.—Nee- York Commercial Advertser.

The following lines are inserted nt the request of
the child's aunts :
Who has not lost a friend
Whose heart no sorrow rends
Fora dear one borne away
By death inn single day
Te dear, the loved are dying,
Our choicest ones depart,
And many friends arc stetting
With tears and bleeding hearts.
Ella's friends will miss her ;
By death their hearts are riven.
Who has not lost a friend
To be found again to heaven?
The sweetest and fairest flowers
- Are earliest to droop and decay,
So dearest and beat-loved friends,
The soonest pass away.
Fond mother., cease thy weeping,
And, father, dry thy tears,
For Ella's body is sleeping—
In heaven her soul appears.
Grandfather, thy darling's gone to rest;
Aged grandmother, weep no more;
Brothers and relations, all follow above
Your little:friend to realms of love.
And all who have fricods in heaven,
Follow her soul with delight,
'Till victory's crown is given,
And 'robes-of purest white.
