MORE GLORIOUS NEWS!
We have just received news of the capture of
Wilmington. Last week we announced thi
capture of Columbia, the capital of South Caro
lina. This week we announce the capture of
Charleston, mother of nullification, secession, and
all pestilent into that have threatened our
country with rain,—and of Wilmington, the
great port of entry for the blockade runners
without which the rebellion would long since
have been subdued. Unless some unlooked for
reverse occurs, it is certain that the end drawetl.
nigh. Now for Lee and Richmond, and soon
after blessed peace in a free land.
FACTS AROET THE 7-30.-THE ADVAN
TAGES THEY OFFER.
THEIR ABSOLUTE SecuttrrT.--Nearly all nc
tive credits are now based on Government secu
ritia, and banks hold them as the very best and
strongest investment they can make. If it were
possible to contemplate the financial failure o:
the Government, no bank would be any safer
If money is loaned on individual notes or bond
and mortgage, it will be payable in the game
currency as the Government pays with, and no
better. The davernuaent never has failed to
meet its engagements, and the national Oebt is n
first mortgage upon the whole property of tht
country. While other stacks fluctuate trom ten
to fifty, or even a greater per cent., Govemmen'
stocks are always comparatively firm. Theis
value is fixed and reliable, beyond all other se
curities; fur while a thousand speculative bub
bles rise and burst, as a rule they are never be
low par, and often above.
Its LIBERAL INTEREST—The general rate re
interest is six per cent payable annually. Thi ,
is seven and three tenths, payable semi-annually
If you lend on mortgage, there must be a search •
ing of titles, lawyers' fees, stamp duties and de
lays, and you will finally have returned to you
only the same kind of money you would receive
Irvin the Government, and less of it. If you in
vest in this loan you have no trouble. Any
bank or banker will obtain it for you without
any charge. To each note or bond are affixed
live "coupons" or interest tickets, due at the
expiration or each successive half-year. The
holder has simply to cut off one of these con
pone, present it to the nearest bank or Govern
ment Agency, and receive his interest ; the note
itself need not be presentid at all. Or a con
poet thus payable will everywhere be equivalent,
when due, to money. If you wish to borrow
ninety cents on the dollar upon these, you have
the highest security in the market to do it with.
If you wish to sell, it will bring within a frac
tion of cost and interest at any moment. It will
be very handy to have in the honse.
IT re CONVERTIBLE into a six per cent gold
bearing bond. At the expiration of three years
a holder of the notes of the 7-30 Loan has the
option of accepting payment in fall or of fund
ing his notes In a six per cent. gold-interest
bond, the principal payable in not less than five,
nor more than twenty years from its date, as the
Government may elect. These bonds are held
at such a premium as to make this privilege
now worth two or three per cent. per annum.,
and aids so mach to the interest. Notes of the
sarneclatts, issued three years ago, are now sell
ing at a-rate that proves the correctness of this
statement.
Ira Exemerros FROM STATE OR MUNICIPAL
TA.SATION.—But aside from all the advantages
we have enumerated, a special Act of Congress
exempts all bonds and Treasury notes from lo
cal taxation. Oa the average this exemption is
worth about two per cent per annum., accord
ing to the rates of taxation in various /saris of the
country.
IT IS A NATIONAL SAVINGS Bass—While

Oho wish to make a safe and profitable invest
neat of small savings. It isin every way the
best Savings' Beak ; for every institution of this
kind mien some how invest its deposits profit
sbly in order to pay interest and expenses. They
4 . 41 invest largely In this loan as the best invest
nent. But from the erosa interest which they
receive, they must deduct largely for the ex
noses of the Bank. Their usual rate of Interest
Allowed to / depositors Is 5 per cent upon sums
war $lOO. The person who invests directly
with the GiTwerament will receive almost 50 per
cent. more. Thus the man who deposits $lOOO
private S wings' Bank receives $3O a year

!National Savings' Bank ho receives $73. For

,irofitatile means of investing the surplus earn-
Lags which they have reserved for their old age
Ar for the benefit of their children, there is noth
ing wNett presents so many advantages .as this
National Loan. •
Tue Blown Mortvz.—The war is evident
ly drawing to a close, but while it lasts the
freasnry must have money to meet its cost, and
every motive that patriotism can inspire should
induce the people to supply its wants without
delay. The Government can buy cheaper for
cash in hand than On credit. La us see that.
its wants are promptly supplied.
