HOW THEY DEAL wrra Timis OWN ' PEG.
'M.—Ono of the bogus justices of the peace
or judges of probate in Kansas is a Virgin s lan
named Murphy. lie was a candidate to the
Constitutional Convention. He happened to
remark in a-private, conversation that he was
in favor of submitting the constitution, when
framed, to the popular vote. He was sick at
the time. A committee . Waited on him.—
They were deputed from the blue lodge; of
which there is a branch in Osawkee. They
informed him that he had deceived them.=
Th . ,ey had confided in him. Had given him
, office. 1 hey had regarded him ns.a sound
A nd reliable Democrat. But his declaration
that the constitution should be submitted for
ratification to the popular vote, had proved
ito them that he was a traitor to the South.—
He was ordered to leave Osarikee immedi..
stely. Although confined to bed, he was
obliged to leave town. The Virginian's ex
pression of astonishment at such deniocracy
were very amusing to us, who have seen so
much of the'unadulterated article in Kansas.

ELZCTION TO BE CONTESTED.-
We see by the Missouri papers that Rollins
intends to contest the election with. Stewart..
We have no doubt but this contest will dis
close some grand swindling on the part of the
Stewart men. Election fraudihave now be
come the settled policy of the party whose
candidate be was. Ballot r hox stuffing and
fraudulent returns. have become Ordinary
weapons with
. them. But they have got a
customer in Major Rollins who will be ugly
to handle.

inevitable deduction from their dehuman

THE AMENDMENTS TO TUE CONSTITUTION.-
In Washington aunty the Cinmty
.Commis
sioners have printed tickets' for and against
the pending amendments to the Constitution,
and 'will distribute them to the various totvn
ships is the right course. and it aught
to be adopted in every.i - tther county. There
isno fairness in asking or expecting individ

to be supplied with tickets from some source;
and there is no source so proper as the'offi

I offer myself as an Independent Candidate for the
