Fatal ilcctncHT.-On Tuesday
morning an accident nccured at the
residence of Isaae B. Treaaler, in Jack
ton township, that resulted in the death
nf a three year old ton of Mr. Treler.
The family had all arisen early exoept
Mr. Treasler't agnd mother and the
little boy. When breakfast waa call
ed the old lady took the chil i in h-r
arms to descend the stairs, hut the fell
to the bottom with It, Both received
injuries, but the child's were, an seri
ous that he died in aeveral hours.

several others examined it and found

tected. The quantity in the boiler
was sufficient to kill a hundred per
sona. Of course the apples and grapes

Sudden Departure.
On Wednesday evening at halfpast
eight o'clock, four ruisonert escaped
from the jail at this place. Their
names are, Patrick Lawless, who was
to be tried lor manslaughter this term
nf Court ; William lloiiglund, who is
under a twelve years' senteuce for
burglaries committed at Watsoutown,
and who madu such a desperate effort
to escape tome two weeks ago ; David
Shoop, who was under sentenua lor
burglary, and William White, also in
for burglary, who had about one year
yet to serve. 1 hey selected the ex
treme corner coll on the upper tier,
and making a sort of a platlorm out of
the bed, they cut a atrip about I lute
feel long in the sheet iron ceiling of
the cell, anil then cutting it diaguually
a few inches at each end they opuued
it as you would a sardine bos. They
ihen removed the stone from the arch
which form the ceiling until they had

of a nun to pass through, Each one

the ceiling they made their way from
the wing to the main house. The

quietly stole down stairs to the second

bridge about midnight, and brandish
ed a knife at the waichniau when ho
remonstrated with them for crossing.
