During the heavy thunder storm on
Monday night the barn on the farm of
Oeorga Jonsar, near Reefer's station,
on the Hhatuokln railroad, waa struck
by lightning and burned to the ground
in a very short time. The farm wa
coupled by a man by the name of
Angenbraugh. lie succeeded in re
moving all hi stock exoept one calf.
His grain And hay crops, together
with all liis fanning Implements Jwere
consumed. There wa no insurance,
and the loss fall heavy upon him.
He Is said to be a very Industrious
and saving man, and sympathy i felt
for him. A subscription bos been
started by his neighbors and it is hop
ed that enough may be raised to help

Some days ago as Mr. T. U. Hryson
was driving his team down the Bin
mountain, he saw before him u very
large rattle snake which gave warn
ing. Deing afraid that the snake
would attack hi horses, he waited a
little and tbe snake crawled uwuy.
After passing, he got off bis horse and
killed tho reptile, when it proved to
be a pretty old customer, having
twenty-live rattles.

daughter of Mr. J. D. Mullen residing
on Judge Junkin'a farm near Delvllle,

buttoned on were burnt off. The child
