over thirty ton of hay, a large quan
tity of wheat, two wagon and many
other farming Implements. The loss

ance.
In a field on Judge Elder' farm, til
Juniata Co., a spot of ground lia
sunk to the depth of three feet. The
hole made by the sinking of the
ground Is quite a large one, being 80
feet long and 13 feet wide. The cause
of it, of course call be only a matter of
conjecture.
On Frltlay laat a lady by the name
of Oable, having a flve-weeks-old
ehlld, got on the Chicago Express at
Hafribburg to go to Lewlstown. The
chiltl took sick, and at Thouipwoiitown
died. When the train arrived at Mif
flin the railroad company took charge
of the dead Infant and had it buried.
