Hugged to Death.
About 0 o'clock last night the
family of John J. Rail, living two
n lbs east of this city waa thrown
into intense excitement and despair
by tb sudden death of sn only
daughter. Mis Mooie Kail, 16
years of age. Tbe yonng lady was
in the parlor at the time io company
witb Charles Gray, ber affiancer. It
seems from tbe statement of Mr
Gray, wbichlwas given with broken
sobs and tears, that the two were
seated on a lounge and be was org-
ina her to name an early day for tbeir
wedding. Tbe girl was coy in hesi
tation abont it. Hut the lover was
importunate and sought in evsry
wsy to induce a compliance witb bis
withes. At last she consented, say
ing 1 "I will marry yon In April." In
tb excitement and joy of tbe mo
ment Mr. Gray threw bis arms
around her waist and drew her to
biin with quick, passionate em
brace. II waa not conscious tf ex
erting unusual streugth and does
not believe that be did. But tbe
girl gave a short, sharp scream, and
exclaiming "Oh 1 Charley. I'm gone!''
fell dead in Lis ai ms, bcr head rest
ing on hi shoulder. His frantic
criea alarmed tbe family, who came
tusbinir into tbe room to find tbe
pitiful sight of the dead girl lying
pule and inanimate in bor dead lov
or' arms. A messenger waa di
patched posthaste for Dr. ate, who
arrived within an hour. Bnt noth
ing could be done. The yo ing lady
was beyond all hnman aid. h is
the opinion of the physician that
heart diseaso ws the immediate
cause of the crirl'a death. She was
fiail and delicate, and bad long com
rlained of tronble witb her heart.
The excitement incident to her con
versation witb her lover had proba
bly enperinducod tbe attack which
led to her premature death. Na
