New Albany, August -t'i The
Democratic exolu iu this city
amounts to a panic, and the wildest
alarm pervades thoir rauks. Jo-day
Mr. lieorge r. lenii, Democratic
Councilman from the First Word,
this oity, and heretofore a form id
able local Democratic politician ou
account of bis iufluonce, published
a card renouncing Democracy aud
declaring for Garfield and Arthur,
and Porter and the Republican Slate
ticket. Mr Peun, is general munag

the glass works.
Hon. Washington C. De Pauw,
proprietor of De Pauw's Amoricau

Dr. Elijah Ne Aland, formnrly Do

and a life long Democrat, is openly
for Garfield and Arthur, an 1 Porter

Mr. Fred Wilson, a furomau in the
Windowglass Works, and heretofore
a red-hot Democrat, is for Garfield
and Arthur nnd Porter.
Tho Into Hon. John S. Davis was
one of the leading Democratic politi

Three Republican clubs in thi

voted tho Democratic ticket.
This is the way it is going all over
this part of Iudiana. The deadest
duck in the political puddle is
Franklin Landers, who imagines
himself running for Governor of
Indiana.
Sir. Buell, tbe editor of the Wash

party ia so badly split np in Virginia
that it is probable the Republicans
win carry it by a majority or from
2,000 to 8,000. la New York the
