Davis, on West Third stroet, oppnhitc
tho Jondcrson hoso house, was struck
by lightning. Tho report was, terrific
and startled everybody in tho vicinity.
Taking tlie corner oll'tho chimney of
the back bui!ding,thn fluid nil down tho
edgo of tho roof, crushing in the outer
end of -tho bath room, which was built
on tho end of tho balcony, ran down
tho spout, whero it apparently exploit'
ed breaking a number of panes of glass
in tho lower story, scattered a pack of
tacks in tho sitting room, made two or
three holes in a rain barrel, nnd wont
down into tho ground nt tho hydrant.
Shingles nnd weather-boarding woro
splintered and carried in all directions,
ono about throo fect long having been
lodged on a treo in tho gardon M fect
away. The inmates of tho dwelling
at tho time wcro Mother Davis and her
daughter, K- Ann Davis, the first named
being down stairs, the latter up, noalod
