Recipes.
Oi'mfsr Ilnr. Take 0 gallons of wa
ter, 1 pounds of brown or white su
gar, 11 ounres of bruised ginger loot,
nine minces of lemon tiiee, half n
pound of honey and threo pints of
yeast ; boil the ginger an hour in a gal
lon of water, then add tho rest of the
water nnd the other ingredients and
set it aside ; when cold, strain it and
add the while of one egg, beaten, and
half nn ounce of essence of lemon ; let
it stand four days, then bottle, nnd it
will keep many mouths.
II Take nun gallon of warm wa
ter, two nuiices of ginger, one pint of
mntit.'scs nnd half a pint of good yesit;
put this into a stone jug, shako 'it up
well, set it tip to rise for IC hours, then
cork il tight or buttle, and il is ready
for use.
Quiet J.rr. Take 1 1 quarts of mo
lacs nnd six p uind-i of hops, nnd
boil them two hours in 11 gallons of
water, when cooked Mitlicieutly, add
one pint of yeast : let it work hi n tub
covered up for M hours; when the
working is over put it into a cask and
let it work there three or four days;
then bung i'. down, or pour it from the
cask nnd bottle il. The beer will be
fit to drink iu a week nnd will be as
strong hs porter. If a weaker beer is
desired for table use, use inure water
iu proportion to the other ingredients.
Viii'-''tr. Savo the parings and cores
of apples, put them into a jar with
warm water enough to moro than co
ver them j set them in a warm place
for several days, then strain nnd mid
one pint of Molasses to a gallon ofthe
water ; put in a jar, tie a thin cloth
over il, Keep iu a warm place, and iu
two weeks you will have gissl vinegar.

berries and one gallon of water, 'tit
them in a copper kettle cold ; let them
ho 1 1 one hour ; then strain through a
sive ; press tho berries, and to nine
gall ins of liquid ndd -twenty eight lbs.

pound oi ginger, onc-Tnirter of a
pound of allspice, one-ipiarter pound I Shoulder
or cioves men put them tun clean; mhos
copper kettle : let them boil ono half
hour ; then strain it again nnd set to
work in tub while warm. One-half
tahlespoonfiil of good yeast is enough
fortius tpiantity. I'ut in a cask when
done working.

a small quantity of borax (half n tea
spoonful) into a tablespoon of boiling
water, lor every quart cr cream or
milk. To keep meat from spoiling,
sprinkle on a little powdered borax
like salt ; then wash w ell in borax wa
ter before cooking.
Otrr t,r Snroiit. Take one tables
spoon of honey, the same of salt, nnd
the white of one egg ; bent all well to
gether for at least an hour or two
would be better. Let it stand an hour.
Then annoiiit the sprained place free
ly ; keep well rolled up with a good
bandage.

solution of gum nrahic. in water, nnd
stir it into plaster-nf-pnris itnlil tl
mixture is rf a proper consistency.
Apply it with n brush to the fractured
etlgi-s of the china, nnd then stick
them together. The whiteness of the
cement renders it tloublv valuable.
