disease was, it secmod to ballld the
phaiuiiioopoeia, and the doctors and
the heart broken mother were
obliged to stand idly by and sou
young Henderson dio before their
eyes. In tho meantime bis HiitTor
mi's increased. Meep was almost n
strungor to him, and ho complained
more aud more of tho peculiar IjcI
ing of ft vitality in thu intestines,
distinct from his own. After lying
for four months, ho died in great
agony. Weak as bo was, bo seemed
to bo possessed of a fietitious
strength, and at tbo timo of bis ex
ertions in tbo paroxysms of agony

After young Handerson s death, the
case bad excited so much attention
in medical circles, the consent of tho
mother was obtained to aa autopsy
being made ttpon the body. Invita
tions were sent to several physicians
of tbe city, aud the investigation
commenced of what was to be A
cause celcbre in ruodical history. On
opening the body, incredible as it
may appear, it vas mscovorea mat
the cherry-stone had sprouted in tbe
stomach of tbe unfortunate yonng
man. Tbe assembld doctors could
hardly credit tbo testimony of their
own eyes, palpable uitnoiigu it was
before them, liy some peculiar pro
cess tbe cherry-stone, after having
become lodged in yonng Hender
son's stomach, bad actually sprouted
as thrifty nt if it bad beeu . planted
in tbe ground. Tbo strange pains
of the Young man were ' nosr ac
counted for, for proceeding from tbe
cherry stone were shoots of fibers
which bad rammed turougu tne in
tostines of tbe victim, and, in some
instances, bad oiled tuomsalvos
tightly nround them. In the vicini
ty of the heart there wore a number
of tbese shoots, nnd one of them
larger than tbe rest, in pressing up
on this organ, bad been tbe immedi
ate cause nf death. Of these shoots
there were in all fourteen, varying
in length from three to nine iuobos.
In color tbey were white, with a
faint, yellowish green tinge towards
tbe base. Tbe shoot which bod
pressed against young Haudersou's
heart was considerably thicker and
larger than tbe rest, and bad a
peculiar reddish tinge, wbioh tbe
others bad not Tbe shoots were n
closely twined and twisted around
tbe intestines that it was loan a tin
p iBsil'lo to remove them, aud so
tbey have not baen preserved to soi
enoe. . The case, however wis so en
tierly $ul gentrit that in all proba
bility a full and soientifio aoootint of
it will be written and published by
the physicians , and sargeous inter
ested in it.
