The season seems to be specially unfa
vorable to the growth of vegetables that
grow on vines, euch as cucumbers,
melons, squashes, Ac. Potatoes are af
fected by an unusual roughness in the
eurface, which by some m attributed to
the bugs, but mere likely is owing to
the season.

unthinking persons who will try to get

rare thing to be present when a train
start from a large station without
some one making a frantic rush to get
on after the train is in motion. The
constantly recurring account of coro

comes in the way of a lost arm or a
maimed leg, It is dreadrul, but yet it is
not entirely too late ; but if it comes
with the crash that is certain to end in
death then it is too late for this world.
For all these it would be well if there
were some means by which it could be
driven into their consciousness that "it
is better to miss the train than to lose
