Interesting to School Directors. -State
Superintendent Wickersham in
his report submitted to tho Legislature
at its present session, says that section
7, nf the act of April 20, 1874, applies to
school direutors, and it U their duty to
comply with its provisions. We quote
from the section a follows : "The
corporate authorities of every auch
municipality or district shall annually
in tho month of January, nren.iro and
publish in At least two newspapers of
nam municipality or or ttie county in
which the samo is situate, if so many
be printed therein, a statement show
ing in detail the rtctual indebtedness,
the amount of tho floating debt thereof,
the valuation of taxable property there
in, the assets of the corporation, with
the character and nature thereof, and
a neglect or failure, so to do shall be
considered a misdemeanor, punishable
by a fine not exceeding one thousand
dollars.
Robbery at the I'iteh Esd. On
Monday night of Inst week, two men
stole a horse from Win. Forsemau, of
White Deer Valley, aud coming on this
way stole ano'.her horse, with wagon
anil harness from Join Marsh. Then
they went to John Haines' bnru, on
Mr. Gritfy's farm, and took forty-seven
bushels ofcloverseed. Mr. lluinus hap
pened to get up early on Tuosday
morning and discovered what had been
done, gave the alarm and set out in pur
suit oflhe thieves. They had lost one
bag of seed along the road which made
it easy to follow them. At New Co
lumbia, Mr. Haines took one road
and sent two boys on the road leading
to West Milton, Tho boys soon came
across the thieves, near West Milton,
and yelling at them, they jumped from
tha wsgon and lied. They were not
pursued immediately and thus mail tg.
