; not yet dry. Wood staim wero still
listinctly visible on tho floor, and
pphilters of blood were seen upon the
door leading to tho kitchen. In tho

ter slept, some of tho bed clothes
were missing, nnd blood wns found
upon tho bedstead. An ox team was
discovered nenr the houso ith bloo 1
stains on yoke and oxen, showing
that the bodies wero eoiricd some

placed upon tho wagon. Tho physi
cians who examined tlio bodies gave
it ns their opinion that tho women
were killed with some blunt instru
ment, prohnbly a bark spud, w hich
was subsetuently found covered with
blood. O'Mnrn urd Irving wero ar
rested on suspicidTj nnd taken to
Montrose jail to await trial. On
Janunry 13, they wero brought into
court, where they ph ado I ''not guil

Auburn, Pa., and Father Sluttuily,

wore directing all thoir thoughts to

whnt resigned and hopeful of tho
future.
Having received tho last rites of

out by the Sheriff to tho pluco of ex
ecution in the court yard of the jail,
acoompanied by thoir spiritual advi
