Next day called found the Irishman dead.
So he wrote opposite the old memorandum.

man, but death to the Irishman,

new issue was shown to a clergyman, a

" there was a contribution at my church -last
Sunday, and we found one of those bills
in the box. The deacon and I both thought
it counterfeit, and' tore it tip."
tW A new use of patent pills has been
discovered. A farmer living in 1 Kansas
village was abruptly visited by robbers one
night not long ago, and having a gun and
powder, but no shot, loaded with a box of
fever pills, and blazed away. The result
was as satisfactory as though the rascals
had swallowed the pills, one of them was
killed outright, and another dangerously
wounded.
t3T" A New Jersey paper up the river is
in trouble. The editor wrote the other day
of a certain official that "his conduct in
dicates a great want of propriety ; and he
must think so in his soul." But when the
type-setter got hold of the article he mis
understood the sentence, so that it appear
ed in the paper thus : " His conduct in
dicates a great want of sobriety ; he must
be drunk as an owl."
