S. Treasury last week, was only about

$5, or less. This increase of the circula

The Bride who said No.
On Sunday as the Rev. Mr. Qarman, of
the United Brethren church in York,
Pa., was conducting the services at
the Union church at Yocumtown, York
county, the sexton handed him a note.
After the sermon was completed the min
inter announced he had the pleasure of
stating that a couple in the congregation
desired to be united in the holy bonds of
matrimony, and that the candidates should
immediately present themselves. There
was a considerable flutter in the assem
blage every eye staring around to see the
happy couple. After some delay a flue and
buoyant couple came marching up the
aisle to the altar. The reverend gentle
man immediately proceeded with the cere
mony, and the groom answered promptly
" Yes, 1 will," but to the dismay and as
tonishment of the clergyman and audience,
wiien it came to the bride's turn, she ans
wered just as promptly, " No, I will not,,,
and smilingly left the church all alone,
leaving the half married man in a quandary
what to do. "Such is life."
Freight Car Bobber.
A great deal of freight has mysteriously
disappeared out of the freight cars on the
Detroit Eel River and Illinois railroad in
the last two months, and the company's
officers have been hard at work ferreting
out the guilty parties, who prove to be
some of their own employees. The princi
pal in these robberies has been J. L.
Spangler, the agent at Auburn Junction,
Who, with one brakeman, the night watch
man and two firemen, were promptly ar
rostcd, aud their premises searched, which
resulted in finding a large quantity of the
stolen goods. The company intends to
give the culprits the full extent of the law
and thus deter others from following tho
conduct of the guilty parties.
