Dropping a Fop. -Mr.
W. C, of Elliot city, a conceited
snob, was so fond of fine clothing that he
reveled in them by day, and dreamed of
them by ' night. Ono evening he visited a
young lady, and as he removed his over
coat, etc., in the hall, preparatory to en
tering the parlor, the lady overheard him
utter the following sensible remarks:
Taking his overcoat and hanging it up,
he said: "Hang thore, you fifty-dollar
ovoicoat I" Pulling off his gloves and
putting them on the table s " Lay thero,
you five-dollar gloves 1" Placing his hat
on the rack: "Hang there, you ten-dollar
hat !" Putting his cane in the corner :
' Stand there, you fifteen-dollar cane 1"
Then entering the parlor ho was about
to sit down, when the young lady pulled
the chair from under him, and as she left
the room, said:
" Lay there, you two-cent fool 1"
He has not been seen around that house
since.
