A Pennsylvania farmer recently sent
bis son to a store vtitU twenty-six dozen
of eggs, telling him to "set on them" going
down hill, so that the wagon would not
jolt them out. The boy sat on them, but
not tho way his father intended; and when
he reached the store, four dozen eggs and
his pantaloons were ruined. When be re
turned home his father eluded him with a

IW A man in a neighboring town having
heard that the ague could be cured by
crawling head first down stairs when the
chill is coming on, tried it the other day.

Just as he started two '.old ladies came up
on the stoop to consult his wife in regard
to shipping seven hundred neck ties to the
poor of New York, and it so happened

before they could even think of saving
themselves the enemy was among them,
and the next instant a horrible mixture of
humanity and cloth went revolving across
the sidewalk and into the stioet, to the
unmixed astonishment of the neighbors
and to the unoonoealed disgust of the par-
tlclpants. It cured bim, though.
